Hi, there:
I just bought the MDX's roof racks for my 03 X. The instruction said that "Do not interchange the front part with rear part." However, these 2 roof racks look exactly the same to me. The only different is one rack has a label with red letter said "maxload 150lb or 165 lb something'.
Can any one confirm me that these racks are the same?

The front and rear cross bars of the MDX roof rack are NOT the same. One of them (can't remember whether it is front or rear) is approximately 1/2" shorter.
This is due to the shape of the MDX roof. |

Is that possible because your X is 2001? The roof racks of 2002-04 are different from 2001. I have called Tim's shop where I got my roof racks. His staff told me that "He believe that they are the same". However, since he is not positive. I'm asking for confimation from the forum.

The roof rack is the same for all model years of MDXs, except for the spread between the front and rear cross bars. I believe on 2002+ MDXs the front cross bar was moved back slightly to reduce the wind noise. |
