I am just starting my AV install and I want to put power inverter and AC plugs in the AC panel, but I can't figure out how to remove the panel? I tried tugging on it, but I did not want to break it.. I have seen many pictures of AV plugs installed. but no posts explaing how to get the panel off.

Any help is appriciated.

there are only a few clips holding it in place. try giving it a harder tug, but not too hard because there are harness connectors for the a/c controls attached to it. i usually start at the top and once that pops off, the rest comes straight out.

This may be considered an inappropriate comment for this thread, but WHY do people work on or modify their cars without buying the service manual first? They have detail after detail, and for Honda products are available at www.helminc.com . For this job -- or most jobs, perhaps -- one would probably want the Service Manual AND the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual (which has loads of schematics and wiring info, including wire colors).

I won't consider your question inappropriate - if you won't consider my answer inappropriate
While I'm a big proponent of reading manuals - why pay $69 for the manual when you (or I) only have one or two questions about something basic? I'd buy a manual if I thought I'd be delving into things beyond esthetics or removal of trim...... my 2 cents.

I have to agree with RCS - I had one question regarding interior trim, which I never even received an answer on. I have had several Helm books for other cars, and the detail is great. But for one question when I have no other plans to modify? I always thought that's what this (And other) communities were for, helping and sharing.

I know I've answered DOZENS of questions on other forums when I have a shop manual in front of me if I can help others. . .

Geeze sorry I asked.. I kinda figured that this fourm was a place to ask these type of questions.. I guess if everyone had a manual then these forums would not be necessary.... How much fun would that be??

Thanks to the people that did answer and help me out.

Jim - Thanks for asking - I agree with you. I tried to get the answer to this a few months ago but wasn't as successful.

It took me a while to figure out this. Someone said this esay and indeed it is easy. But, remember to be patient/cautious when you remove the pabel. I attached the pictures so that you can understand better. I did this last year, and I will try my best to explain the steps:

1. Move front seats forward so that you can have more space to work on removal. Do one side first, and you will know how to pull out another side.
2. There are 6 (medal) clips (red in picture) holding the panel, and 2 plastic thing (blue in picture) to ensure the panel align properly with center console.
3. Use FLAT type drive to insert into blue area first and move (gradually) up and down few times so that you can increase the gap between console and panel.
4. Once the gap increased, move the flat drive down to (almost) bottom (red circle in picture), pop out the bottom panel.
5. Use the same skills for the remaining 5 clips.
6. Disconnect AC wire from console.

Remember to be patient. Hopefully, this helps.

Yeh, I eventually had to figure that out on my own. Thanks for the photos and the step-by-step - they'll be a big help for anyone looking to rip that stuff apart in the future. Everything is right on the money.

Don't be afraid to ask, many are happy to help. And even with the service manual some can be tricky and better photos like those posted help a lot.

Thanks being said, the manual is a pretty good resource. Keep an eye on ebay. I got mine pretty cheap there...

Thanks for the pics. It helps a lot. I've been trying to figure this one out for awhile to fix my vents, but didn't want to damage something.:2:
