Disable NAV + Radio Relay Switch - Click HERE for Original Thread

Anybody know if the Relay that switches the radio off/on when the NAV voice kicks in can be turned off? What I'd like is the NAV voice prompts to be played while the radio/cd/res is playing. I hate the fact that it clicks off the radio to prompt me.

There ought to be a mode to just enable a "chime" or "bell" when a turn/exit is prompted as an option to the full voice prompt. A simple reminder that a turn is coming is sometimes much less intrusive than the radio/res turning off, a full voice prompt, then the radio/res turning back on.

Anyways, if anyone has any additional info if this can be done or has been done, I'd love to hear it.

Looks like you could open up the WHT/BLK wire from Nav to Audio unit (stereo).

This is in position 15 of Nav connector A which is a 20 position connector (2x10) and position 14 of the 20 position connector Audio connector.

Thanks.

What exactly happens when I do that? If I just cut that wire, does that shutoff all voice prompts? Or is that the wire that just activates/deactivates the relay to shut off the cd/radio audio when the NAV prompts come on?

In the wiring diagram it is labeled MUTE.

I assume it is a MUTE control signal so the NAV can tell AUDIO to MUTE. Opening the circuit should disable the MUTE capability which as I understand it is what you want.
