Need front floor mat to cover left foot area - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have had my Black (Saddle interior) Acura MDX with the touring package for only a couple of weeks and I love it. I am a nut about keeping my cars clean and ding free. Unfortunately, I noticed that on the driver's side, left foot rest area the carpets do not cover it and the small rubber foot rest has factory carpeting around it that is getting dirty already. I need to find a front driver floor mat that will cover the area of the left foot rest or another "strip" that I can use to cover it. Does anyone have any ideas???

PM or email wwong. He's a 3M distributor and has a custom-cut rubber pad for the dead pedal.

msgrover,

I would go with the WeatherTech floor mats. They cover the driver's side left foot rest area perfectly.:4:

Hmmm, either You, or I have got the left and right mats switched. I've got them placed the other way, thus complete left dead pedal area coverage. What good is the upper extension behind the live pedals?

He should; I test-fit one a few months ago.

If you don't have all-weathers yet, those Weathertechs look like a good idea to me! We have the OEM all-weathers so needed just the dead pedal piece.

In all honesty, it's not as elegant a solution as the Weathertechs based on EXCALIBUR's pic, but it works if you've already invested in other mats.

I guess you could say they are interchangeble. The way I have them in the pic is the way I have placed them from day one.:4:

Interesting idea... I've had mine like EXCALIBUR since I first put them in. How does the other one fit on the passenger's side?

rjmitche,

zafer's post about the front WeatherTech mats intrigued me. I went down to the garage and tried swapping the mats. I have come to the conclusion that the way I placed them in the pic fits best. Try it for yourself and decide. :4:

The area of concern that I have is directly behind the emergency brake peddle. On my 2004 there is a small black "dead" peddle in that area surrounded by the factory carpet. Not one floor mat that I have found has an extension to cover that in any degree. To the right of the "dead" peddle, where it slopes down is what is already getting dirty (after three weeks) because I am used to extending my left leg while driving and putting my foot in that area. Acura should have made that whole area a hard plastic foot rest rather than the "dinky" little black pad with carpet around it. BTW, your picture is not of a 2004, because I see no "dead" peddle area.

As an update, I may have found what I am looking for with an all weather mat at etrailer.com

msgrover,

I have a 2002 MDX and never claimed to post a pic of a 2004 MDX. The reason you didn't see a "dead" pedal area in the pic is because it was covered by the WeatherTech floor mat. This is what you wanted isn't it? The pedals you see in the pic are Autovation pedals. The 2004 MDX has the same floor and pedal configuration as previous 2000-2003 MDX models.

Ok, Thanks! It's just was a little difficult to see in your first photo and the perspective of where the "dead" pedal is seemed flatter.

I had the same concern you did. I found Lloyd's Mats makes an excellent custom carpet mat for the MDX that covers the dead pedal area. The mats are heavy carpet with thick rubber backing and eyelets for the keepers. I got mine through Stylin Concepts and are available in many carpet and piping colors and can be monogramed in a variety of fonts and colors too. I'm very pleased with mine.

I think they are way better than the Weathertechs, IMHO.
