Greetings,
I have a simple question to all of you 03/04 X owners. Has Honda/Acura figure out and fixed X transmission with a new design?
thanks

My '04 does not "seem" right, but I've only driven mine. Once in a while, I THINK I detect a little slippage, and it definitely holds gear too long and takes a long time on shifting. I have the extended warranty and will wait until it dies.

I have an '03 and it seems to work fine. But, I do know that at least 4 others on this site have had '03 transmission replaced. Do some searching and you'll find lots on this. I'm pretty sure that there's a poll on transmission problems and year model.

The anecdotal evidence indicates that the "new" transmission is no more reliable than the old...

Apparently not, pingwrx replace the transmission on his 04 MDX. See this thread
quote: We think the 2001 was quieter, faster, and more dependable than our 2004. So far on our 2004, we had our power steering pump replaced, transmission replaced, O2 sensors replaced and the exhaust system replaced.

A good question. I received the recall notice on my '01 MDX transmission about a week after I turned it in for a 2004 (Starlight Silver Tour/Navi w/Quartz interior.) The '01 had about 40k on the odometer and I never experienced a problem. The new MDX, now with only about 2k, definitely shifts differently. The 1-2 and 2-3 shift points are most definitely at higher rpms than they were on the '01 and I'm wondering if the local mileage will be affected by this. The tranny seems to shift a little smoother than the '01. Now, if they would only put the outside temp and the a/c on/off buttons back on the computer display!
