Sub amp and XM Radio question - Click HERE for Original Thread

Where is the sub amplifier located in the 04 mdx? Has anyone tried to replace the amplifier yet and if so how difficult was it?

Second I have an 04 Mdx with Nav and Res. I understand I will not be able to have XM radio without either going tape or FM modulator. Which is better? Is there a possibility of somehow connecting the XM through the AUX input?

Thank you in advance

From what I'm reading with these posts, with the CD Changer you can't use the Blitzsafeto connect the XM, and the AUX port seems impossible. I have a 2004 X with Navi/DVD adn Changer. I want to hookup my XM also. On my Accord, which I no longer have, I used the Wireless FM Modulator, the sound was OK, but much better quality with the cassete adapter and of course the best quality if its hard wired with the Blitz. So I think the only option left for me is to use the casset adapter in the MDX. I wanted to keep it clean without all the wires, but it looks like I will have to cut the wires and shorten them for a cleaner look. I plan to call or email Blitzsafe and see what they have to say, will repost if I get an answer.

Sorry, I don't know anything yet about the Sub Amp.

Blitzsafe makes an adapter for external changer equipped Honda/Acuras.

Well I wanted to hookup my XM Roady and keep my Changer (under seat). Spoke to Blitzsafe yesterday, they said that I cannot keep the stock cd changer and hookup the XM or any other device unless I upgrade the stock CD changer to I think they said an Alpine unit. Well, I'm not ready to replace a brand new changer that works fine, so I guess I have to use the cassette adapter for my XM, since the wireless FM Mod quality is horrible. Damm, now I'm going to see more wires than I want to.

My ignorance...I was thinking the stock unit was made by Alpine.

I believe the changer is made by Alpine.

I would suspect the problem is probably more of a connector issue that an electrical interface issue.

The MDX uses an "OEM" connector specificed by Honda for the remote CD changer, while the Blitzsafe uses an "aftermarket" type connector. Blitzsafe probably does not want to be responsible for people cutting off the OEM connector, finding, and splicing in an aftermarket type connector.

I thought the BS connector fits in back of the Acura radio (as it does in non-external changer models) and the factory underseat changer cable plugs in on top of the BS connector. In other words, the Blitzsafe interfaces with factory connectors, electrically AND mechanically.

I believe the Blitzsafe has a male OEM connector that plugs into the female OEM remote CD changer connector on the back of the OEM radio. Then an aftermarket Alpine CD changer connector could then plug into the "CD-Changer capable" version of the Blitzsafe adapter.
