Hello All,
Noob here that hasn't even picked up the X yet but have a burning question. I've done a search but couldn't find anything that didn't have a NAV. I was just wondering whether the Trip Computer is an actual LCD screen that is capable of hooking up a DVD player. I'll be getting an '04 w/touring. I've been using a PDA GPS for the past year and it's worked as well, if not better, than any stock NAV so I didn't see the benefits of getting it.
Since I'm at it, I might as well find out if I got a good deal or not. As mentioned, it's the '04 w/ touring. I also got the protection package (basically the side moldings, bumper protection strips and door edge guards), the bright chrome side steps, all season floor mats, wheel locks and the moonroof visor. The sticker price was 43,200 with everything. They gave it to me for 36,799. Good deal?
Thanks. |

| Sorry but the Trip computer is not a LCD that could be used to watch DVD's etc... I would love to see someone install a LCD in the area where the trip computer is. I do not want to take out the factory CD Changer and replace it with a in dash LCD, I just don't like how that looks. |

Have you even TRIED the Acura Navi? It's probably the best on the market and I have tried a LOT of Navi's (Cars, PDAs, laptops, etc.) and haven't seen ANY come close. If you're using Navigation and not the built in X version, you ARE missing out.
Do you have to load maps on your PDA every time you want to go somewhere that's not already loaded? Those things were ALWAYS a lot of work to me.
And no, you would need the Navi edition to have a real screen to watch DVDs on. The trip computer is just a green-screen. |

| Do you know that you are getting a backup camera with the NAV too? That was one of the reasons I decided to go with the NAV. If it's not too late, get the MDX with NAV. |

| I just tried to see if I could get the NAV and the dealer said it will be very hard to find. Even if they do find one now, it will be an additional $2700. I haven't checked but that seems to be above what the Acura website charges for it. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? |

| Considering sticker was 43,200 for a touring with some modest accessories, I'm not surprised they would overcharge for the Nav. Maybe go with another dealer??? |

I decided to get the X with the Navi. I paid 39,500 for the Touring, Navi, bright chrome sidesteps, body side molding, the protection package (bumper protection stickers painted to match the X), floor mats, wheel locks (gave me 2 sets for some reason), and moonroof visor. I could've gotten it for 38,999 at a different dealership but my wife and I really liked the dealer and appreciated everything she did for us. She was even the one that found a lower price for us.
Anyway, anyone know of a good install in the NYC area? I want to put in the SAM unit but after reading some of the threads and seeing the pics with all the wires, I'm getting intimidated. |
