Apologies if I missed this in a previous thread, I really did look first.
Along the top of the door frame, above the window, there is black tape, creating what I suppose you could call trim. The rear edge of this seems to be coming off the drivers door and I can see signs of the same process on the front passenger door. I can't be the only one....
I'm half tempted just to pull it off, but only half. Has anyone else dealt with this. Looks like it could be replaced with black plastic electricians tape if one were inclined.

| I don't know. I looked at mine, and it appears to be more like hard plastic, maybe 1/32" thick, that is possibly snapped into place rather than adhered. I agree that good ol' 3M #33 electrical tape might be a fairly good match, but it doesn't have a good reputation for long life in the sun, and I don't think it would stick for very long in normal weather conditions. Since it's a trim piece, not paint, it might be covered by warranty. |

Same problem here. Dealer says it has to go to the body shop to repair, as according to the Service Manager, is quite extensive.
I will not subject the MDX to any overspray from a 'body-shop' and will try the repair myself, when I get time........ It is actually getting worse with the 'hot' CA sun. This really surprised me that it is not paint, but tape. I wonder what the significance of tape is?? Can't be cheaper, as proper alignment of the tape is labor intensive. |
