Hooking up XM or MP3 - Click HERE for Original Thread

For those of us with a Touring/Navi/DVD, that want to install your XM or MP3 players, you probably figured out by now that you can't use a Blitzsafe adapter without upgrading the CD changer under the driver seat.

Well, I didn't want to got out and spend more money on a changer thats working just fine, so I couldn't use a Blitzsafe to hookup my XM Roady. (This was confimed by speaking to Blitzsafe). I used the Aux input at the right side of the 3rd row seat hand rest, that you would plug in a game system.

I used a 20ft RCA cable, plugged into the left and right audio inputs, (no video needed obviously) ran the cable to the front. Then plugged the RCA cable into a 1/4 inch stereo to RCA cable. (I used 2 RCA couplers to join the cables). I couldn't get to splice the power wires so I just plugged the cigaret adapter that came with the roady into the front console cigaret plug and ran the wire through the side of the ash tray. Antenna wire came down along side the right of the wind shield and into the car around the right mirror area.

When you power up, press the DVD button on the head unit, if there is no DVD in the player, the AUX will come on. You can switch between DVD and AUX with any problems.

It was the cleanest way I found to install this unit and didn't have to splice any wires. It sounds really good, better than the wireless FM modulator and better than the cassette.

Hope this help some of you.

But presumably you can't watch the dvd and use the aux input at the same time?

No, you cannot watch DVD and use the Aux at the same time. The Aux port at the back is to hookup a Gaming system, so you wouldn't be watch a DVD and using the Aux at the same time anyway.

To connect an MP3 player to the ipod, just wired the audio out of the iPod to the back of the DVD. It would be the smaller connector into pins B1, B2, B5, B6. See

Will this work as well on a 2005? I'm looking for a cost effective way to hook up my 1st gen iPod.

TY
