Brake vibration - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have gone through several Acura cars (99 TL, 01 TL, 03 TL-S), now I have the 04 MDX. In all of them I experience the same exact problem -- around the 10-15k mark, at highway speeds I start getting steering wheel vibration when braking.

My driving style is aggressive, but I do not use brakes much -- I let off gas in advance and do not tailgate. I pretty much use the breaks in traffic, in emergencies, and in normal city driving (nothing crazy there, I do not rush off at the green light and slam on the brakes at the next red).

I have gone through about 15 cars by now, and Acura is THE ONLY one that has had this problem.

A manager of the Acura Service suggested that it is my driving style -- I am saying "no", 'cause it has not changed.

I do not do anything other people do not do....

Has anybody else experienced this? Is this the new metallic pads that are causing this? Maybe other vehicles have the same issue -- I am just not aware of them???

TIA!

This may be caused by warped rotor.

Lots of info on here regarding warped rotors. Hope you got some time on your hands to do some searches.

In a nutshell, assuming no other probs like mistorqued lug nuts, often blamed for problems they can not cause, your dealer may turn the rotors for free and pop in new pads (front only), as a 'goodwill' gesture. Nothing in the warranty says they have to do that.
If they will not do it free, I would go to an independent mechanic, it will be cheaper.
They did mine for free, and it helped tremendously. Have not seen a hint of high speed brake wobble for the last 10K miles since the treatment.
