Anybody getting good deals on a 2005 MDX ?

I am trying to get a 2005 MDX as soon as possible. I have been talking to all the Acura Dealers in and around the Boston area. I have quoted $2500 less than MSRP (don't know it yet ??) to the dealers. Nobody has comitted themselves to this price but the sale people are willing to listen and talk it out with their managers. I am hoping that the prices will be made official tomorrow after which I am going to sign up a purchase and sale agreement with some actual numbers listed in them.

BTW, I am looking for a 2005 Touring with NAV..
1st Choice: New Desert Rock color.
2nd Choice: New Billet Siver
3rd Choice: New Steel Blue

What price quotes are you all getting from your dealers ?

I'm also waiting on the 2005. Really want the Bluetooth and upgraded Navi. I have not discussed pricing but my thoughts are that with so many 2004's on the lot, the 2005's may start to stack up as well. At this point, I will buy for a $500 over invoice deal but it remains to be seen if I will be able to do it. FWIW, I have been to 4 dealers in the Northern California area and all have a lot of '04 stock with more coming. Will report on market conditions once the '05's hit the lot and I start serious negotiations.

I was quoted $1000 off the list price today, on a new 2005. I took my 2001 in and they only offered me $15,000 on a trade because of my high mileage (84K, but mint condition - garage kept - looks like new!)...I left and told them to have the sales manager (who wasn't in) call me when he was serious....

Looks like we may have to wait a few weeks before they start to seriously negotiate. My dealer has his first scheduled delivery on 10/1 and I expect that he will call in the next day or two. It will be interesting to see what they offer. I will absolutely not pay close to MSRP. Too many other good cars out there that are going for close to invoice. That being said, the MDX is my first choice.

Yesterday I negotiated a deal of $2500 less than MSRP on a 2005 Steel Blue Metallic Touring+NAV. The actual price (MSRP+destination) is $42845 but the dealer agreed for $40345 (initially he was hesitating...but i didn't give in at all). I am also getting Running boards installed. ($800 installed). BTW, I live in the Boston Area.

I have the signed Purchase and Sale agreement in my hand and will be putting the required $1000 deposit on Saturday. The Car is supposed to arrive on the Last week of October to 1st week in November (build date is: 10/19 - 10/23). Here are my choices:

As per agreement: Steel Blue Metallic (Quartz interior) + Running board - picture is attached
2nd Preference: Billet Silver Metallic (Quartz Interior). The Silver is coming right after the blue and I have the option to switch if I don't like Blue.

Just one Note of Advice: Please be strong/firm while negotiating...don't give in under any circumstances(dealers always play tricks!!). Given that they have 2004s in the lot, they will eventually agree to the deal.

Good luck to all the potential 2005 MDX customer!! MDX is the BEST...

Congrats & welcome to the forum. Sounds like you're the 1st on this board to have "invoiced" the 05. You could do better by getting the parts from Tim and installing yourself or from reputable shop.

PS - wait until you get to "Round 2" when they try to sell you the LoJack, extended warranty, etch glass, etc.

Thanks for the heads up!! Always nice to know about the surprises prior to visiting the dealership.BTW, I negotiated over the phone and told that I will come in ONLY if we agree on the price.I am going in on Saturday to put in the deposit...

I will probably go in for LoJACK but nothing else !! Thanks again.

Which dealership are you dealing with? I want to trade in my 02 for an 05.

Sunnyside Acura (in Nashua). very good response/service till now!!

I have also talked with:
Clair Acura
Acura of Boston.
Both had verbally agreed to $2500 off and were ready to sign up the Purchase and Sale.

BTW, always position the dealer against each other...and the deal will play itself out.

On-Star offers the same abilities to track the vehicle as Lo-Jack. Also, the 1st year of Safe and Sound is included in the price. Don't see the need for Lo-Jack unless I am missing something.
hoque
What happen after the first year ?
LoJack Vehicle recovery + advance vehicle move notifications(lets you know when the vehicle has been moved without your knowledge) is only $250 for life.

Onstar is way more expensive than that. Additonally I think, Onstar works on satellite technology. Hence bad or inclement wetaher means no signal (just like sateliite TV)

LOJack works through transmission towers on Land. Doesn't have the same problem.

Any comments/thoughts ?

Congrats on a good deal - but do not get any more accessories from the dealer. Tim sells the Running Boards for $445.

Two dealers in NE Ohio are already willing to discount the 2005 touring w/ nav $3,500..

It is a very competitive market with a new dealer in the mix messing up the current dealer's profits

Good for us, bad for them!

BTW...I ended up with a 2004 touring w/nav at $4,500 off sticker with no hassles over accessories or extended warranties at all.

The best price I have found on the new 2005 Touring Navi Odyssey is 37810. 1k off sticker.

Looks like I might just get a better deal buying a 2004 Touring Navi MDX.

I wonder if a dealer would give me a good deal if I trade both my 2002 ody and 2002 mdx for 2 new 2005 MDXs?

Slocko,

What area of the country are you in?

I will be getting an '05 Touring+NAV MDX for $400 over invoice. Color is Aspen White w/ Saddle.

I don't think everyone will be able to get this kind of price, but the reason it happened has to do with TRYING to buy a car from the dealer since June of this year (when I was looking at the TL). Once I heard the MDX was getting XM and Handsfreelink, I decided to switch to the MDX (it's more practical).

Anyway, I had negotiated a deal on the TL and they are carrying over the terms of that deal to the MDX. I'm very happy about this.

I won't be saying where this was until I actually have the MDX as I don't want to torpedo it...

Im over here in New Jersey. It's been tough getting a break on the Touring Odyssey because hardly any dealers have them on the lot and aren't getting that many once they arrive.

They figure they can afford to wait and see what happens.
