| Anyone ever test drive a Touareg before? I like the Air Suspension feature on Touareg. The air suspension rises and sinks automatically in response to varying speeds. It can raise ground clearance from 6.3" to 11.8". |

There so much in demand, that VW is giving back $5,000.
Seriously, they are already many threads on the Touareg. You should check them out.
I did not drive it, but liked the interior appointments but was really disappointed in the storage (less than a Passat), weight, gas mileage and cost.
So for me it is a big disappointment.

I test drove the Touareg about a month ago. I drove the V6 & V8. The V6 was weak given that the Touareg weighs in at approx. 5300#'s. The V8 checks in at over 300HP though and the difference is night and day. The salesman told me that the Touareg V8 is also used in the Cayenne.
The air suspension is only available on the V8 & V10 from what I remember. It's called the V8x I think. The cost (MSRP) on a V8 w/NAV-RES with air suspension was approx. $51,000. I think you could probably get one now for about $43,000 new, given that they're not selling very well.
Volkswagon says it will go through water 30" deep w/ no problem. The salesman said it would go through water over the roof as long as you don't take your foot off the gas. I'll let someone else verify that. They must be trying to compete with the Hummer. They do have some pretty cool video clips on their website.
I would have loved to have taken it off-road but it was just a little too expensive (V8) and there were quite a few little things I didn't like. It's also in it's first year and I have heard rumors of engine problems with the V8.
After driving the Touareg & RX330, I bought the MDX. |

Boy.....the salesman who said "it would go through water over the roof as long as you don't take your foot off the gas" is a retard. And no offense to retards.
Going through water that high will draw air straight into the intake with or without having your foot on the gas. Even a bypass valve like the aftermarket AEM produces wouldn't help in this situation. I really hate lying salespeople. |

| I just visited Touareg forum. It is pretty bad, too many lemons count. I am glad I choose MDX. Touareg forum |

| I just read through a bunch of threads at the Toureg forum - when they talk about off-roading they mean how many weeks/months out of service at dealership... |
