Q: Inquiring minds want to know.:hmmm:

We had a lot of annoying problems. The quality we expected wasn't apparent in the car. The service at our closest dealer was a joke, and we didn't trust them. Since I bought my Tundra, we have a vehicle that has plenty of room, and will tow the boat without any problems. Basically, we were just tired of the X. Mrs. Catz was ready to have a car again, so we bought a mint condition, ultra-low mileage '02 Lexus ES300.

That's the short version. We'll stick around the site, since we've met some really great people here. We wish everyone the best of luck with their MDXs. We had to get out before it wasn't economically feasible.

sorry to hear that catzx6.....thanks for being open and nice about it....usually, ppl in your position trash about their car and stuff....how bad it is...never buying another acura again....why we still own it...blah blah blah....but thx for wishing us the best with our vehicles...appreciate it. Enjoy your new ride!!

I recommended the '04 TL to a good friend. That is one of the finest cars on the road, so I know Acura can build them. I would have loved a new TL, but it would have still meant dealing with our local stealer, and we couldn't handle that. I know, there are about five other Acura dealers around ATL, but we live pretty far south, and all the others are north. My friend bought his at a different one than we did, since he lives on the north side, and has had a good experience. I know and trust a Toyota/Lexus specialist close by, so that's why we went with the Lexus. Plus, it was a very good deal. Unfortunately, sometimes you just get a big, rotten piece of citrus.

I wish many happy, safe miles to you all! :29:

Good luck Cat.... Believe me.......the dealers do not get any better anywhere around Atlanta. I have dealt with 2 and both have the same "Head in a$$ syndrome". I find myself on the defensive every time I need a service. I too have not been 100% impressed with the quality of my $42,000 suv but I do have alot more positives than negatives to point out. I will be caught in a hard place when the time comes to trade/sell mine(2 years) when the "older" style MDX will replaced with a first year model. I do not want to deal with the "kinks" again. Don't get me wrong....I have never doubted my purchase and love driving my vehicle but just think Acura could have paid a little more detail to the "little" things and most of all the customer who ultimately keeps them in business.

Hey Catz,
Sorry to hear 'bout the X, altho I must admit I completely understand and often think about doin' the same. I'm assuming that the ES doesn't have Navi and you will keep using your iPaq w/Mapopolis Pda setup. You'll enjoy your ES, I know my dad just raves about his used LS . . .

Hey socalJD,

You are correct, the ES doesn't have NAV, and the iPAQ/Mapopolis setup works extremely well.

To everyone who has been so kind to reply,

After five days of ownership, I must say we love the Lexus. It drives like no other car we've ever owned. We're going on a mini-vacation this weekend to Chattanooga, TN, (about two hours away), and will drive the ES. I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares to the X. BTW, the trunk is HUGE!

Well, we've had the ES300 for almost a month, and can say we are very happy. No hidden surprises with the car, and it drives like a dream. I am extremely impressed with the quality of the car. Real wood, thick, supple leather, and what appears to be very sturdy plastic (where there is plastic). I do miss the steering wheel mounted audio controls, however. We live in an area that gets very little, if any snow, so I don't think front wheel drive only is going to be that big of a problem. The X was the first all-wheel drive vehicle we'd owned, and it was comforting knowing the reputation that it had in the slipperies. No regrets, so far.
