| Yeah so somehow after carefully adjusting my tire pressure I lost one of the caps at the nearby gas station Saturday. Went back this afternoon, no sign of it. It's probably in somebody's tire now. The closest Acura dealer was nice enough to give me 4 of them so that they all match. But they don't really match the wheel as well and don't look as nice. The guy at the parts counter said there's no way to get OEM caps unless I steal one of theirs. But somehow there's got to be a way. Any ideas ? |

| Am I missing something? Isn't a black valve stem cap just a black valve stem cap? |

Sorry...they're chrome. I take it not everybody has chrome ? Or is it only 04's ? |

The '04 has the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The caps have a metallic look that matches the stem and rims. |

| It's not as bad as I first thought so I might just have to suck it up. Here's a comparison. OEM cap: |

| You probably can't tell the different from afar......Maybe next time you're at the dealer one might just happen to fall off their vehicles on their lot:2: |

Hay nightguy,
They do sell the brushed finished caps, keep your eyes open at any parts store. But I would not worry too much because in a short time they will loose that shiny look due to road grime & brake dust etc. |

| I guess that this kind of problem makes me feel good...if the biggest problem that a $40,000 car has is a missing valve stem cap, I think I have purchased a pretty good vehicle! If you want to have a real awakening, take a look at some of the other forums for cars like the Ford Explorer, the Lincoln Navigator and thank your lucky stars you bought the MDX. |

Yes, and be sure to ask the dealer for the "five finger discount.";) |

Aw shucks, I'm too honest for that. It's not even the dealer where I bought it although they did waste about 2 hours of my time when we were still checking out the X. I don't think most people are going to notice it but it's going to bother me for as long as I have the X. It still seems like I should be able to get one somewhere but I guess the valve stems are probably reusable so what would the point be ? |

nightguy,
Seriously, I understand how you feel. A valve cap is really a minor piece of equipment when you consider the entire MDX. Valve caps get lost or stolen with time. Try to explain to your dealer that you would like to replace your lost one with an OEM one. If not, just try to get four replacements albeit non-OEM so they will at least match. Enjoy your ride.:29: |

Tell them the part number is 42757-S3V-A01, list price 10.22 each. We've got them in stock :) |

I will remember to treat them as precious jewels. Or ten dollar bills. |

Was that a hint/invitation?
Perhaps taking a wire brush to the shiny chrome ones will make them blend in a little better. |

Or a $10 brainfart.
Thanks, Tim. I have no idea why I didn't ask you. I have to say right now I can't tell the difference but I'll see what it looks like in the spring. |
