| Had an unusual glitch with my TPM system display yesterday. As I was leaving work in the late afternoon, I noticed that the dash display was indicating that all four tires were under inflated. I did a guick visual inspection which showed that none of them had a problem. With all four tires lit, I figured that perhaps the display was faulty. The X had been sitting outside all day (I work on a mountain --5,500 ft elevation) and it had been raining heavily with a temparature of around 50 degrees. Heading home to the the Palm Springs area where I live, I kept an eye on the display, thinking that maybe the tires/wheels would warm up and give a more accurate indication. Sure enough, the tire light displays went out one by one and when I was on the desert floor, the last light went out. Of course, the temperature was around 75 degrees by then. Any thoughts?? |

Mdefrances,
I had a similar situation while a camping trip to mountain (~10,000 elevation). One of the warning lights went on the next morning while temperature was around 40. Checked the tire pressure, indeed it was below threshold (26? I forgot).
With the temperature went up and on my way to a gas station, the warning light was gone. Put the tire pressure back to 32 when I got home and didn’t find any problem with the tire or TMP.
Put a tire gauge in your car and check them if it happens again. |
