Just my luck! I never thought I would experience any annoyances by purchasing an Acura. Just about 250 miles into the odometer on my '04 MDX and I notice a vibrating or buzzing noise coming from the stereo console. The noise happens when I drive over rough surface. On smooth road, I do not hear such noises.
I took it to the dealer this morning. The serice manage and I drove around to hear the noise. When he pressed his hand on the DVD player, the noise stopped. Anyway, when I picked the car up in the evening, the service manager said that the technician put more insulation around the DVD and around panel around the trip and compass unit. As I am driving home, the noise is less frequent and less pronounced. But it is still there. I am disappointed as this is supposed to be Acura's flagship next to the RL.
What bothers me the most is that the dash is opened up and the problem/noise is still there. Has anybody experienced this problem and do you have any suggestions that I can tell the technician the next time I take it back? |

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...maybe.
I have (had) a similar situation in my 2001 (60,000k). It was a sporadic buzzing (humming) coming from under the stereo in the console. Sounded like a cell phone was in there on 'vibrate' or going over very small rumble strips. Now rhyme or reason to when it happened.
Anyhow, it took it in and apparently the technician got the noise to happen. They called today and I need a new TRANSMISSION! Thank God for warranties.
Take it back and insist that they look at it closer. I hope you do not have the same thing, but to be safe...
Good luck. |

You have just described exactly the same noise that I have been experiencing. I cannot duplicate it at will. In fact, the 3rd time I took it back to the dealer the technician and I drove around and we couldn't hear a thing.
Then on my way home from the dealership, I began to hear the same thing. It really bothers.
Now going back to your description. How do you end up with a transmission repair from the noise. Can you elaborate so that I can better understand and point the technician in the right direction? |

At first they could not hear it. So my wife said she mostly recently hear it going 55 mph. I told them that and I guess they heard it finally.
I do not know many details as it is in the shop now. I will get as much info as I can for you after the repair or even have your dealer call mine.
Good luck! |
