| Bought a truck with 20'' rims and 275/45/20 goodyear GT2 tires. Hear a creaking noise in the suspension, and was wondering if the dealer can say the warranty will not apply. Any clues? |

If you still have the stock ones, I would put them back on and see if the noise is still there.....before going to the dealer. |

Since I am planning on upgrading to after market wheels & rubber on my X, I asked that very question to the guys @ my local Acura Dealership yesterday... As long as the overall diameter of the tire (& rim) remains approx equivalent to original, no probs with warranty..
My local dealership sells & fits after market rims.. said they put 20s on Xs all the time |

Hey Guys,
I have an 02 MDX with 275/45/20 wheels. When the car is on and when I am turning the wheel to get into a parking space, you can hear a creeking noise. I took it to the dealer and they say it is due to the oversized tires, because they are putting extra strain on the steering system. Has anyone here had a similar issue? Should I go back to the stock wheels? |

Its probably just the truck; they tend to be louder than crossover SUVs. Shoulda got an MDX. :1: |

| Sorry..I meant to say it is an MDX. What size tires should I get then to come close to factory tires? Right now I have 275/45/20. |

linusMDX,
I have stock wheels/tires on my '04 MDX, but had a creaking noise exactly like you've described. The dealer (with which I've had good luck so far) had the car for a week before they diagnosed and solved the problem (my free loaner was a '04 TL, so no problem there). Here's what they wrote on the invoice -- "Customer states there is still a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel either way (parking lot speeds). Please CK. Test drove and inspected to try to isolate problem. Noise would come and go. Swapped frt struts. Noise was still there after sitting overnight. Test drove with chassis ear to diagnose. Noise coming from steering rack area. Loosened mount and repositioned rack and checked rubber mounts. Noise now gone after several test drives."
The noise was taken care of, and is gone still after 4 months of everyday driving. It appears something was binding in the steering rack, perhaps due to some misalignment. The only issue I had from the repair was the steering wheel was no longer centered, which I had adjusted at the next service. I hope this helps. |

| Thanks for the info!..I am going to put stock wheels back on to see if the problem is still there. If it is, then I will totally show them your post. Thanks a million! |

| Dealer just put some lubrication around the steering bushing and now the sound is gone. They say it "should" never return, but will keep and ear on it :D |
