Over the past couple of days I have noted slippage that I thought was in my mind(how could an Acura tranny die so soon, particularly when I have had all the maintenance performed?) I obviously have not been on this site for a long time and had no idea, with the exception of the oil kit, that there were problems with the transmission. However, the problem is getting worse. The tranny slips and shifts hard. I noted it especially today while going uphill. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow. Fortunately, I have an extended warranty that I purchased for $700-shame on Acura if they don't extend the warranty on the transmission.
When I bought the vehicle. I was planning on driving it into the ground, but now I think I'll can it as soon as I hit 100k. It's funny, I was just telling someone who asked me about my experience how I hadn't had one lick of problems with my MDX................... |

Sobering story, I had the same plan starting out. Let us know how it goes at the dealer. |

Took it to the dealer yesterday; they firmed that it was the transmission. However when they looked for the extended service warranty it was not in the computer.(I bought my MDX out of state)
The dealer who sold me the extended warranty told me it was Hondacare, and it would always be in the computer! I had to call the dealer and it turns out that they sell their OWN warranty, and since I had not been to that dealer in 18 months, my data was dropped from the computer.
After about an hour of sweating it out, it seems as though the out-of -state dealer is going to honor the contract and is supposedly going to send a check to my dealer for the full repair, around $4500. But this is a wakeup call; I know that when they sold me the warranty they told me it was through Honda. (I've yet to find the actual paperwork.)
In the meantime, I'm in a TL loaner which is nice but is hard to take kids to soccer, etc. One thing that I've noticed is that the sound system in the TL is far better than what was offered in the MDX(maybe accoustically they couldn't cut it) and unlike the MDX's system(which I gutted and replaced) I probably would be able to tolerate the Bose system in the TL (although I think Bose generally is a lame system.
Have the sound systems in the later MDX's improved? |

When we had our X, I actually looked forward to getting a TL loaner (which happened many, many times). It's great for a sedan, but missed the cargo space of an SUV. The fit & finish looked a lot higher quality than we had in our X. |

| Hope I get a TL when I drop my X off at the dealer for a new tranny on Monday (if the parts came in..). |
