What are folks hearing about the redesign of the MDX? I have heard that a new MDX may be out next fall as a 2006, and have seen some spy shots on another site (vtec.net).
Deciding whether to pick up an '04 or '05 Touring now, or wait for the new one before replacing my 2001 MDX. Depends on when it will actually be out, and how different (better) it is likely to be. |

muttley, could you post the vtec URL that shows spy picts for an '06 MDX makeover model ? I'm about to pull the trigger on an '05, after having spent considerable research time to feel confident that '06, at least, would not be substantially different. I would guess '07 might be, but not '05 vs: '06.
Further the vtec model matrix (see below) predicts only the hybrid version of the MDX being released next model year...so I have not across any suggestions or hints of a model makeover for '06.

Can you provide any references you''ve come across ? TIA |

Certainly. The information I was checking is under the "Rumors and News" link. There were a couple of stories. Two dealers this weekend also stated their expectation that a new MDX was due sometime around 2006 (either model year or perhaps as an early 2007).
Here are a couple of links to spy pics:

I decided to go forward and purchase a new MDX anyway, and bought a leftover 2004 Touring today. The dealer had the right color combo (Silver with Quartz) and the deal was too good to pass up. Figured the safety benefits of the 2004 over the 2001 were substantial (for my wife and two small kids) and that the new MDX will be tough to get and will sell at list when it first arrives anyway. Considering how great the MDX is now, I don't envision radical changes.
So now I have a 2001 base, black on black, with 45k miles to sell. Any interest out there?

| Was told at dealer meeting that redesign will not be until 2007 model year. Not told if it will be an early release or not. Vehicle should receive the SH-AWD system. |

| I have just recently got very concrete information from a very reliable source that the next MDX is slated for a 2007 release. |

| My next MDX will be when they come up with a new design and/or when my warranty runs out - whichever comes first. |

| .....consensus that the next MDX will be released in 2006 as a 2007 model. The lack of any "insider info" and/or spy pics further confirms this fact!! .......depending on how/what is available (in terms of luxury, performance and exterior size) I will either get the next gen MDX or RDX. Personally, I think they ABSOLUTELY SHOULD keep the MDX the exact same size it is right now, or AT THE MOST increase it's length an inch or 2 (and only if they absolutely must) .....and then, introduce a vehicle over the MDX to cater to those that want a larger SUV (This would complete a perfect SMALL, MIDSIZE, LARGE SUV lineup) |

| 2006 or 2007 is ok. I sure hope they'll keep it the same size. If it gets any larger, it'll be like driving a... U-Haul truck??:) |

Please....do yourself a favor. I had purchased a new 2004 V8 Touareg that stickered for $53000.00 I had nothing but problems with it. it is a super vehicle, does everything very nice, very high tech....just a super looking truck with excellent fit and finish.
the clincher was when i was in Colorado on the Alpine loop, when i went to start the vehicle and nothing happened.....I mean nothing....no car...no cell reception just alone in the wilderness. the battery had goen dead, and did so for the last 10 days of my tirp. Luckily I had a jump started and was able to get it started. I got some weird messages n the computer....this all stemmed from the electrical problems that the truck had. Seems like the computer controls everything...
Ive had problems with the Tire monitor syste, the compass, the stepper motor, 3 navigation systems were replaced, pre mature tire wearing (I had the 19 inch rims), and the list goes on and on.....
Luckily VW was good about buying it back. I since bought a motor home and neede a vehicle that I can tow behind it. A new Touareg could not be towed.
I decided on the MDX because it can be towed. It doesnt have the bells and whistles of the Touareg, but it drives smoother, gets much better gas mileage and I know every time I turn the key, it will start. I have 8500 on it now with out one I mean One bit of trouble.
Think about this carefully, and check to see how many Touaregs are selling used.
Good Luck
