Can anyone help? I have a 2001 MDX (Black) and recently bought a three-in-one car seat, but I am unable to get the belt from the car seat to extend to the tether/latch that is located behind the seat. This is for rear facing. I have not tried front facing yet. It seems like I'm doing something wrong, because it doesn't sound like anyone else is having an issue. I have tried 3 different models, but they all seem to have too short of a belt.
I also have a 2003 Toyota Corrolla and have no problem with securing the baby seat rear facing to the latch, since the latch is directly in the crease of the seat.
Any suggestions?

The two latch points for all cars equiped with the latch system is the same. If the seat works on the Corrolla, it should work on the MDX as well. The distance should not be different. If there is a slight difference, the belt are adjustable (at least in all the seat I've looked at so far.)

What is the brand/model of the car seat in question.

BTW, you wrote that "Can anyone help? I have a 2001 MDX (Black) and recently bought a three-in-one car seat, but I am unable to get the belt from the car seat to extend to the tether/latch that is located behind the seat. "

The two latch point is not behind the seat, it's in the crease.

Take a look at page 14 on this link for installing a Britax Rounabout.

I hope this makes sense.

Does the 2001 MDX come latch equiped?

Try Britax, Britax and Britax. You will never have any problems again and your child will be safer than he/she has ever been. There products are amazing.

The top tether on my kids car seats is about 3x longer than it needs to be to reach the anchor point on the middle of the seat back, for FORWARD facing.
To use a top tether for REAR facing you can clip it to the mounting point of the first row seats OR clip it to the anchor point for the second row seat, beacuse the Britax is a Y shaped tether-- YOU DON'T WANT THE A SINGLE TETHER GOING TOWARD THE BACK OF THE SEAT! If you did that in the Corolla to get the anchor on the pakage deck you should not -- top tethers are OPTIONAL for rear facing and should NEVER go over the kid's face!

The LATCH system does NOT attach to that anchor, it goes to the ANCHOR POINT in the "seam" beteween seat back & bottom...

BTW- The 2001 MDX does not have provisions for the 'Latch' system. But that should not prevent you from securing a baby seat properly.

I believe he is refering to the tether which renov8r mentioned which goes from the back top of the baby seat to the back of MDX seats.

If so, see pages 24, 25 of previous linky (Austrailian method).

I'm referring to any of the products from Britax, I believe they make both versions. Check their website:

I have a rear facing convertible seat, and instead of routing the top tether all the way to the back of the seat, I have it going straight down and anchoring on the bar that runs across the lower part of the back seats. The strap on mine is long enough to go to the back of the seat, I just didn't want it in the way of putting the kid in and out.

I think LATCH refers to all three anchor points- Lower Anchor and Tether system for CHildren. It's the two lower things in the seat plus the anchor on the back of the seat. Of course 2001 didn't have the two lower anchors, the single tether anchor on the back of the seat must have some other name in pre-2002 cars. In my 2001 Saab it's called ISOFIX, since that's the EU pre-LATCH system.
