As you can see from my signature, I have an 04 X. Yesterday when I was pressing the channel button, but the mode was changing, the same way the mode button works. This continued for a few minutes
and has not done it since. Anyone experienced this? |

| Take a look in the PROBLEMS section and you'll see this is a known problem. TSB has been issued to resolve so it's back to the dealer. |

I know this is going to sound insane but...
I was having the same problem during the summer here in Phoenix and it was getting worse. I didn't want to take it to the dealer because the majority of the people who have had the TSB performed (see attached) still have the problem.
Since the problem has to do with poor grounding through the bearing in the steering column, I thought I would push real hard while turning the wheel back and forth fast, and then pull real hard while turning the wheel back and forth real fast.
I don't know if it was that procedure, the weather cooling off (from 100 down to 60 degrees) or something totally different, but I haven't had the steering wheel controls screw up ever since... |

FYI, in case you haven't read all the threads yet, had my 03 X into the dealer three times for the audio controls, first time they changed a cable reel assembly (worked for a few months), second time the steering wheel column was changed out per the TSB(worked for a couple weeks), and a few weeks ago found that a connection was loose. Audio controls have worked fine since the loose wire was tightened, but the cruise control buttons crapped out last week. So back again tonight for a loaner and leave the X overnight so they can work on it tomorrow.
So that is a total of 6 warranty trips (a couple other items had to be fixed too) in 13 months since purchase. Still think the X is the best all around SUV out there, however, when it's time to replace I'm not sure I want to go with Acura again. I'm not keen on spending $40K for a vehicle and having to go in for warranty work so many times. |

On my 3rd trip to the dealer to fix the stearing wheel controls they said they tightened a ground screw and they appear to be working. They had previously dimpled the grounding ring and replaced the steering column. Hopefully it will last this time. The also performed the service to silence the brake clunk and tried for the 3rd time to repair the rear wiper (haven't tried it yet). |

Found out over the weekend my cruise control buttons on the steering wheel don't work. The cruise button light on the dash is on and the fuse is ok.
I'm guessing my problem has the same cause as the folks with the radio button problems on their steering wheel. My 01 MDX is out of warranty.
Anyone know where the ground screw is that some dealers have tightened? Anyone had a TSB repaired when the vehicle was not under warranty? I'm wondering if there are processes to go through to have Honda reimburse me for the repair. |

| I don't think the ground screw will fix the cruise control buttons. I had to have a new cable reel assembly installed. Good luck. |
