MDX 2nd row seat: does it adjust forward and back? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am trying to determine if the 2nd row seating in the '04 & newer MDX models adjusts forward and back, as in the Honda Pilot (for those of you who may be familiar with the Pilot).

For some reason I believe that I was told this by an Acura salesperson. He knew that I was comparing the Pilot, and distinctly remember him stating that "the second row now sildes forward and back, like in the Pilot."

To me this would also imply that the 03 and earlier MDX did not offer the ability of the seat to slide forward and back. I do know that the 03 Pilot did not offer this, but the 04 Pilot models do.

Can anyone confirm for me if the 2nd row of seats slide forward and back, and if so which model yr are you referring to.

Lastly, if the 04 does not offer the ability to do this, do the 05s perhaps offer the ability to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help & responses.

The back part of the 2nd row seat adjust, NOT like the pilot. or just do some searches as there were discussions about the difference between the P and the X.

The small right side 2nd row seat slides forward to allow access to the third row seat. Both 2nd row seat backs can recline slightly (about 6 inches).
The seat does not move back and forth like the front row seat.

The 2004 MDX Touring/NAV/RES: Passenger side 2nd row slides forward.........but it is to allow easy access to the 3rd row. Once the kids (or what ever) are in the 3rd row, the the passenger side 2nd row slides back to the normal position.

Thanks all for the quick responses. My main question has been answered.

So, just to ease my mind that the salesperson wasn't just stroking me, were there any changes to the seat adjustments in the 2nd row of the 04 MDX? I distincly remember him implying that there were (just like the Pilot he said....). Pretty sneaky of him if there were absolutley no changes.

Yes, there was a change. The 04 slides farther forward to allow easier access to the third row seat.

I think in one model year, probably the 04, Acura improved how far forward the 40% portion of the second row slides forward, for easier access. But it does not allow for "permanent" positioning fore and aft like the front row seats.

What a wealth of information can be found on these boards... thanks all for clarifying... I understand completely now... that obviously wasn't the sly Acura sales guy's intention though. He wanted me to believe that the seats in the 2nd row adjust forward and back as in the Pilot. :)

They recline only. I'm not sure if the Pilot seats are capable of reclining, or just fore-aft movement. It would be nice if they add that feature, but I think there's enough leg room in the second row now anyway.

The Pilot seats do recline one detent or two (just a little). The nice thing about being able to move the middle row seats forward is the additional space afforded to 3rd row passengers (when needed).
