Hi guys,
I just bought an '05 MDX last week and at time of purchase decided not to buy the extended warranty since I didn't feel I was getting a good deal.
I would like to buy the extended warranty. Does anyone know if you can purchase the Acura extended warranty after you've purchased your car? Has anyone of you done this? How late can you purchase this extended warranty - before your 4yr/50K expires?
Thanks,
jai |

You can buy it from Acura anytime during the original warranty period. It's a little more expensive after the first two years, if I recall correctly. You can buy it from any Acura dealer, and several specialize in low prices for this commodity item.
There has been some intense shopping and price comparison activiity on this site. If I recall, an Acura 7yr 100,000 mile warranty w $50 deductible was about $1,650. SEARCH and ye shall find. |

I would also like to know where the best price can be found. My dealer wanted $2,350.00. Obviously I didn't buy.

Guys,
If you Google for Acura Extended Warranty you will find about two that are backed by Honda of America. :D |

I bought an extended warranty from Acura, but it wasn't the Acura extended warranty. They offered me one from First Extended Service Corporation. that was similar, but it has this deal that if I DON'T use the extended warranty when it expires then I get what I paid for it back. All the other terms were pretty much the same as the Acura warranty.
I guess the odds are that I will use it by that time. |

Acura of South Bay. It's in Torrance. |

Thanks! I did get a letter from them but when I called the number to get a quote on the warranty, it was from a company called AON that had a relationship with the dealer (POWER) but not Acura. Also, they quoted me $2,100 for my '02 with 39K which seemed a little expensive.
I am really looking for an all Acura warranty. |

That sounds like a nice deal. How much did it cost?

After thinking about it I was trying to remember why I went with this warranty instead of the Acura warranty since they both are comprehensive coverage. Then I remembered that with this warranty I can take it to an Acura dealership or an independent auto facility. Since I am not that close to an Acura Dealership to have that option available. I paid $1067 for the 84month/100,000 mile factory warranty. |
