I plan to purchase my '04 this weekend. I think I'll save $ getting the '04 instead of the '05. Any issues on '04's?
Is it worth to buy the extended warranty? How much should I expect to pay for it? Thanks!

It's always a trade-off between saving the $$ now (w/04) or getting
higher resale value (w/05) several years down the road.

But then with proper investment strategies and good timing,
those $1000s saved today can always trun into $10000s
those several years later :D :2:

I think it all depends on how long you intend to keep it and if you need (or want) the new features on the 05. If you don't want the navigation, then an 04 is pretty much the same car. Most of the changes for 05 were on the new navi system...voice recognition, XM radio, On-Star, Bluetooth phone compatability, address & phonebook, etc...

Good point. If you don't plan to keep the car beyond a few years, put on average miles per year, and don't load up on factory electronics (NAV, res, etc.) that are expensive to replace should they fail, there is little reason for an extended warranty.
But as those factors change, an extended warranty can have more relevance. Fortunately, you can still add to the factory warranty as long as you do it before the original expires. Of course, the longer you wait, the premium costs do increase.
