Although the transmission issue is discussed a lot in this forum, the actual percentage of failed transmissions is a minority percentage (no one really knows how large or small).
There was another recent thread on this regarding a poster thinking of buying a 2002. The general feedback was that for piece of mind, buying an extended warranty 7yr 100k, is the best way to totally remove this as an issue in your purchase.
Personally, I would stretch and get a 2003, versus buying an 01 or 02. But I undestand that that can create a cost issue. |

| Didn't realize the post was from the same person. Well, then I guess my comments aren't anything youv'e seen before. The earlier thread seemed to cover most perspectives. If there is a more specific question you have please post it. |

In my opinion, you shouldn't buy an 01 MDX, or any other used vehicle for that matter. If you are so unsure of your decisions as to post the same question twice in a forum of strangers, you will always be worried that the transmission or other part will fail. If you do have a failure, you'll hate yourself for making a bad decision.
Take the money you'd spend on an 01 MDX, and buy a nice, new, less expensive vehicle. |
