| I was curious about how many owners would buy (or lease) another MDX. I would particularly like to hear from owners who have had theirs for a while (like mine, a 2001) and why or why not. |

My first MDX was a base 2002. Just finished getting a 2005 Touring Navi.
So far I love the vehicle and as long as I can afford it, will be getting one every 3 years. For me, it's the technology, the looks, and the ride, the cost of all that. I didn't even consider for a second another brand when the 2005 came out. The RL crossed my mind, but it's ten grand more with no discounting.
Even thought I love the styling of the X5, the technology doesn't compare to Acura. Unsurpassed Navigation and handsfree link.
Loving the RL too. If I had the money, that would be my third car. |

| The quality remains or improves AND it stays 10K less than a Lexus GX................ |

I would,
The vehicle sells itself....
BUT I have noticed a decline in the customer service department (for which I was a loyal returning customer for over 8 years). So I have been servicing the vehicle myself.
On a seperate note, if I am ever given a hard time regarding any valid warranty issue, I will switch brands. |

| Yes, as long as I like the '11 (or '12, or '13) model -- I tend to keep cars that long, and my '01 is still goin' strong at 42K. Besides, I have to stay a member of this forum ad infinitum... |

I traded in my 2001 last October for a 2004...no regrets....it's a much better vehicle (in MY mind anyways), plus I got NAV/RES on this one.

i thought i wouldn't be able to see much of a difference between the 2002 navi base and 2005 navi touring.
i have to say i am enjoying the 2005 much more. the extra power is nice along with the Bose system and XM, and handsfree! |

| I am still in the honeymoon stage with my X, but I love it and would buy another. At this stage I wanted one for my growing family and sports equipment and kid hauling. I will however likely go back to a car when my kids get older. |

I'm hoping the Hybrid MDX comes out soon. I love everything about my 03 except the Bose (now improved some are saying) and the gas mileage (which is actually best in class until the RX-400h comes out).
Yes, absolutely... I'd buy another. |

| Probably, you still get a lot of value for the money. |

| Shootist: Any elaboration why you say "No" when you have apparently just gone for the '05? Are there problems, or are you thinking it's time to move on? |

Geo,
That was a joke, son.
I like the vehicle so much I bought a new one after 18 months. Rolled over the loan, put down a few thousand, and I have a brand spanking new and improved MDX with better stereo, Bluetooth, OnStar, better ABS, side curtain airbags, faster Navi, better VR with IBM Viavoice, TPMS, better leather, and the new car smell all over again. Very painless, and very satisfying. |

| :) Shootist: Sorry for missing the sarcasm - I'm still in that post-purchase shock period, where I'm afraid every bit of news means I bought a $35,000 Edsel... So far there have been mentions of brake clump, gas sloshing, engine whine and a boat-load of peaple moaning about the stereo (which, even on the base model, sounds fine to me). Glad to hear you're a happy owner. So far, we're loving it! Thanks. |

| Quite a few of us think the Base stereo sounds better than the Blose in the Touring -- me included. |

I already did - traded an '01 with 47K miles for the '04 back in January.
PS: There are quit a few folks on the board who are on their second MDX now and their stories have been told in several threads. |

I've had our '01 MDX with Navi for 3+ years and 37K miles. In my opinion, as of today there are no better SUV alternatives available that provide the same combination of value, utility, comfort, convenience, and performance.
Based on my experience with our current MDX, I would definitely buy another one, provided there are no better choices available when I am ready to replace it.

Agree with you, I'd really love to see a hybrid, similar to the RX330h which already has 9000 presold.
If they do that, and don't go wacky with the new body, I'm sold. |

| At this point, no, I wouldn't buy another one. Don't get me wrong, I love the vehicle. I just like variety. Maybe that's why I'm still single :D |
|
|
| wludwig |
| I agree, but variety is not the primary reason. My '01 has 53000 miles and it's just not the same vehicle I thought I would have after three full years. There are rattles in the second row seats, there is WAY too much road and wind noise for a "luxury" vehicle, I have had too many warranty service calls, (from a radio that ate and digested 6 CDs, to transmission problems, bad struts, lousy OEM tire mileage, etc. Service is also a problem--dealer service is outrageously priced. |

As Blackura said - only if a hybrid comes out.
I love the car... way love it but Toyota is out first with the luxury hybrid SUV, claiming 600 miles per tank. My wife and I have discussed selling the mdx and buying the RX 400h when it comes out. I'm not cheap but gas prices rose about .70/gallon since we bought the mdx. Not much, but it does add up. I think the 2006 mdx will be a hybrid or share the vcm with the ody. Oh well.. |
