What can I see or do within the few hours of free time I will have tomorrow evening?
I'll be somewhere between Laguardia and Chinatown.
This is my first overnight trip to NYC and want to make the most of it.
I enjoy drinking, eating, drinking, sightseeing, drinking, comedy, and drinking.
Any suggestion??:2: |

| If all you have is a few hours, the Empire State Building is a suggestion. |

Lots to do....since I work downtown NYC!! :2: Stay away from Chinatown at night...not much to see. LaGuardia is actually located in Queens, and nothing to see their, so taking a cab into the city is the best course of action. Unless you want to go into Astoria, Queens for some Greek Food....
If you like steaks...then you must go to some of my favorites...
Smith & Wollensky
The Palm....(my favirote...since I'm a VIP member...LOL)
Mortons
Michael Jordans' Steakhouse (in Grand Central Station)
Italian Food go to Patsy's Pizza on 74th Street, family portion servings, and the Pizza is excellent!
Greek Food must go to Uncle Nicks on 9th Avenue and 50-51 street….
All in midtown, so with in walking distance to the famous Macys, Time Square, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue Window Shopping, etc...I would recommend with your limited time, you stay within Midtown (34th to 60th Streets…except if you’re going to Patsy’s!). By staying in Midtown you will see a lot, eat well, drink well, in the short amount of time you have, and you will enjoy it….
Adult Entertainment try the new Hustler Club and the new Penthouse Club (Rogers Steak House within….)
Midtown Attractions:
Walk down 5th Avenue from 60th Street along Central Park
Plaza Hotel
Trump Tower
AOL Tower
Many Famous Stores to see
Rockafella Center where NBC Studios and Christmas Tree go up
Walk across town to Broadway and you will be in Time Square…. |

Well if you like drinking you need to check out McSorley's. Just a short ride from Chinatown too.
Here's a thread from a while ago where I wrote about it and there are plenty of other suggestions in the thread as well.

drinking a few is actually out of the question, since I have to return to work in the morning. |

Nothing a little Ibuprofen and water couldn't cure. :22: |

Chrysler,
check out my thread that andreseng pointed out. Lots of recommendations from members. In Midtown, I would go back to the Empire State Building, see Times Square, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree should be up by then, I would think. Those are things I would do if I went back.

I made it back.
NYC is a nice place with lots to do and see............feel very safe there.
We had one evening of free time.
People I was with wanted to eat Mexican, so we ate at Dos Caminos (pretty good food)
Went to Times Square and Empire State Building (didn't go up, it was late and closed, only hung around the lobby)
Walked along Broadway, 5th Ave, Macy's etc. all around Midtown.
Lots of honking and sireins constantly, people always walking very fast.
Can't wait to go back.

I thought the same thing...I had never heard so many horns in my life. I was in a class on the 35th floor of a building and could still hear the horns. =)
I felt pretty safe when I was there too, I only had a weird feeling one time the whole week.
Sounds like you were in the same area I was, Times Square, 5th Avenue, Empire State building, etc.

I've lived in Midtown, on a busy street, for the past 23 years. On the weekends, I live in the middle of farm country, where the loudest noise is the click of the thermostat two rooms away. For a long time, I couldn't sleep with all the quiet; it was like-
