| What does NAV screen show? Was at a dealer yesterday and inquired as to whether or not the NAV screen displayed XM information. Could not get an answer. Does anyone know? The RES screen does show XM info. Also, while driving, what is the normal screen for the NAV..obviously the map or is there another screen that would be used. Any info would help. THANX |

If you press and hold the radio tuning button for about 5 seconds, the Nav screen displays XM info, including Category, Channel, Channel Name, Song Title and Artist. It also displays touch sensitive Presets, with channel number, and touch sensitive mode (fm1,2, am, xm1,2, cd).
If you press and release the radio tuning button., the Nav screen displays touch sensitive (I think) Audio controls- bass, treble, balance, fader- as well as a graph of frequency equalization to show how you've set the controls. That goes away about 15 seconds after your last change.
These audio controls can be adjusted by pushing the tuning knob to get to a different control, then twisting it left or right to increase or decrease.
When I'm driving with my wife, she keeps the XM/ Radio controls displayed, because the map makes her dizzy (this is easy to do , with my wife). I always drive with the map displayed, usually at 1/4 mile resolution. If you are following a calculated route to a destination, turns are displayed as simple 3D graphics on 1/2 screen of the Nav.
Nav screen also displays Places of Interest, including Zagats reviews of Zagat-reviewed restaurants, with phone numbers linked to the Bluetooth dialing system.
Nav can also display the AC/ Information screen which gives outside temp, A/C controls and stuff.
And, of course, theres the automatic backup camera display. (reportedly the '08's will include the Gunsight option, for tailgaters.) |

| Thank you for this information. Can't figure out why the dealer was not aware of this. I'll drive by there tomorrow and give it a try. That is if I can find an 05 X. |

The MDX is very similar, except it has a row of touch sensitive buttons at top for input select (fm, xm, cd, etc.)
I'll get pictures tommorrow. |

| "Sound" screen- audio controls. Note that I've turned up treble and front fader too far, to show how the graphic equalizer displays reflect the frequency curve and bigger front speakers: |

| Here's a cool one- the Zagat's index of restaurants. I photoshopped over the the distance in miles, and the direction arrow, so you don't know where to find me in case I tick you off later (hint- its's more than 60 miles away): |

On the '05 , you also get a different display if you press the voice command key on the steering wheel and say "XM". You can then pick a channel "Channel 94" and it will bring you to another screen. Same with the CD player, using voice commands. Just discovered this today.
The voice command is really cool. I was trying to figure out how to use the heater today (for the first time here in CA). I just hit the voice key and said "82 degrees" and it instantly brought the thermostat to 82 degrees. Straight out of the Jetsons! |

I think this only works when you already in the radio display mode. :hmmm: Otherwise, you have to press the radio tuning knob for a few seconds to bring up the radio display first.

| The information and pictures as posted are accurate. Cannot believe the I had to take info from this site to dealer and explain how to work the Nav. I do not recall if the Zagat option was shown on the '05 X I looked at. Do you recall if there is an option to load this info or is it standard on initial loading of disk? Thanks. This site is very informative. |

When I bought my 01, I went home with a DVD disc about the MDX and an extensive information about its NAV system. That is the deciding factor I bought the X.
Went back few days later to return the DVD and got me an MDX. Ask the dealer if they have a DVD you can watch at home. |

It's about time we can sync at least our appointments and contacts from Palmpilot/Pocketpc to NAV. Bluetooth is there. |
