Here's my story:
- Took car in at 97K for tranny recall. Informed svc tech that we were experiencing sporadic problems where car seemed to hesitate or stumble between gears, but not consistent and couldn't recreate.
- Dealership says they found nothing wrong, applied recall lubrication kit.
- Couple of days after receipt of car, started noticing the skip/tach jump and trans rumble, as others have stated, when maintaining a level speed, on flat surface.
- Hubby has close friends that own a Aamco Center, and Aamco is currently doing free checks of transmissions. Aamco found and noted: (1) Around 20mph Tach jumps and trans eratic; (2) Car jumps in and out of overdrive.
- I am due at dealership at 7am in the morning (11/22), and want nothing less than a new tranny! Will post update. |

| Aren't you glad you have that extended Warranty! However, you won't get a new transmission, you'll get a rebuilt. That's what Acura does, period. |

Those symptoms are not uncommon for faulty transmissions according to what other owners have reported. But have nothing to do with the recall/oil jet kit.
As said, newer or older vehicle, it does not matter., The replacements from Honda are rebuilts. That does not mean they are any worse (or better) than the original when new. They should have the latest improvements incorporated. |

All,
Thanks for the clarification regarding the rebuilt vs. new transmission. I am definetly glad we purchased the extended warranty. As you can tell I drive my MDX A LOT, and actually had to drive hubby's truck for a while so I wouldn't hit the 100K before going back to the dealership. Thanks again!

It is my understand of the Acura transmission recall, that the recall check/repair extends to all 01-02 MDX's whether in warranty period or not....and long as if a defect is found, it is related to the specific area of issue under the recall.
Someone correct me if this is not correct. |

I believe that is true. The problem is very few vehicles are found to have the specific problem called out under the recall. If the oil kit is installed, they should never have that exact problem. So it is not much to hang your hat on with regards to most transmission failures. |
