Add another to the list of trans problems...
My issues:
while cruising at highway speeds, if I slightly give it gas or let off (while out of cruise control), it seems to shift into second gear then back into third or fourth. The car will decelerate from 70 to 60 in a split second then get into the right gear. The rpms will hit redline then back to normal when the correct gear is engaged.
I brought it to the local Acura dealer and got a quote for $3250 for a new trans installed and a 3yr 36k mile warranty.
I really think if maintenance is kept, that the trans should be coverred for items like this, at least partially. I did buy the MDX used at 80k and drove it for another 10k. Neither of us did any towing, almost all are freeway miles.
I did buy a used trans to replace my defective one, but the 3yr warranty sounds perfect. |

Pound your fist and stand your ground, transmissions should not fail at such an early time.
At a minimum, get Acura to cover the parts for the new transmission. You should be able to get it as goodwill if you push hard enough. Tell'em you'll let everyone you know not to buy a junky Acura. Tell'em it is the last Honda product you will buy. Get everyone involved.
If you need to, make a fuss. Tell customers in the dealership that the transmission in Acuras are poorly made and Acura won't stand behind their cars. Send the customers to Lexus, Infiniti, and others where they can buy a car with real support. |

I'd be pretty frustrated if I had to replace a tranny at 90k that has a widely publicized recall associated with it. I'm surprised that the service dept. didn't give you some kind of break on the pricing. And I would think that there is some type of independant inspection that could be performed to see if the failure is in any way related to the recall.
I'm with peanut butter on this one, you'll probably have to have some strong discussions to get some type of satisfaction from the dealer. |

No, that's how you get what you want from a company that has refused to address the transmission problems they are responsible for. |
