We spent a week in Kauai this summer. We have been there 4 times and it is our favorite island. Enjoy the beautiful islands!

Starting to look that way, but I think I'll be heading to the old country sometime next year instead. I really do need this time off as I've been at the grind for a solid year with this trip in mind.

THat is exactly where we are staying this week. Major waves this week, up to 50 ft. on the North shore, high surf down here on Poipu Beach, but lots of awesome snorkeling.

| Staying At the Hyatt, and yes going to golf/ dive my brains out for the 3 weeks we are there. Have fun, and no rain dances what so ever here , get enough rain in the pacific northwest allready:) :yesyes: :yesyes: :yesyes: :yesyes: :yesyes: |

Ah, beautiful place. I stayed there the first time I went to HI. Good pool. And walking distance to the 2nd best luau on the island at the Hyatt. Just make sure you stock up on supplies at the Wal-Mart near the airport. The prices at the Safeway by the resorts are inflated just to scalp the tourists. |

| Glad to hear it’s a nice place, my options were running out as it being the peak season and it was getting hard to find a spot under a zillion. I’ve heard the traffic is bad so we wanted to stay were we won’t have to drive so much. Anyway, I have to chuckle at your Mr. Tice opinion. When he played for the Sea Hags, he would come to a local pub with some well healed folks so I got to listen in to some of his BS. I was totally shocked when he got the head coach job, he didn’t seem that smart to me. He did seem to suck up to the people with the juice. Anyway, surprised he did so well this year, probably be there for good now. :4: |

Tice got his 1 year option picked up today not because Red McCombs has any faith in him but because he works cheap...unbelievable. If he doesn't get a new contract next year he can always fall back on his Butthead impersonation. Met him a couple times through some work I did. Nice guy. But he could eat me for lunch.
Traffic isn't bad unless you're trying to get into Lahaina. Even then it moves and there's almost always someplace to park if you're willing to walk a bit. The trolley's not bad if you want to have a good time and not have to worry about driving. When I went two years ago I don't remember there being any traffic on the island except coming back from the road to Hana.
I went with my dad 10 years ago this week and somehow the Whaler screwed up the reservation and made it for the next year. We ended up with a 2 bedroom, 2 balcony ocean view suite the first night. Wow. Also got to see an up-and-comer named Sheryl Crow at the Hard Rock in Lahaina on New Years Eve. Wow again.:) |

Wow, three weeks at the Hyatt!! You must have had a great year there, Joe. Good for you!! Last year I went with a best friend from High School, to Oahu for some sport fishing and to visit with old friends who had moved there. This year it’s the 10 day’er with the wife and daughter for the old payback shopping spree. I’ll be easy to spot; the whitest guy on the beach will be me. I’ll be looking good though in my Maui Jims… |

For ease of access, snorkeling off Kaua'i is way better. You can literally walk off the beach into the water, and the fish are right there. On Maui, you have to go out by boat to Molokini to do any worthwhile snorkeling, and even then you're not guaranteed to get in the water because you might have waters too rough for the boat. However, coming back in just off the Maui coast at "turtle town," you can have a blast swimming with the turtles. They are hard to see on the bottom, but they do come up for air every so often and that's when you get to snap them. They are truly very large creatures, and swim very well for as cumbersome as they appear. |
