XM 1 year $60 renewal - Click HERE for Original Thread

R-MDX
Yes 1 year of service for $77 plus tax. I made a one time CC payment so it was a done deal.
This was to continue service that was expiring this month. This is the second time I've done it for $77.
IMHO XM isn't worth any more than that anyway.

Just renewed @ $77. If the customer rep is clueless, instead of calling back, insist you want to cancel, and they will transfer you to a retention desk. The retention guy knew exactly what to do.

After reading most of this thread, I requested that XM bill me for the $77, rather than putting a credit card on file with them.
Anyone actually read the back of the statement? If you write them a check, they will convert it into an electronic payment and debit it from your account... no doubt storing that info for the next renewal.
Same goes for the credit card portion of the statement. It says that by signing the credit card portion of the statement you are agreeing to all current and future charges. I didn't like that too much, especially after reading a lot about their questionable tactics. I decided to send them a money order. :)

A lot of companies are doing the same thing here - storing the check details and debiting the amt electronically. While doing so they are having our checking account info. It will be a headache for consumers if this info get into wrong hands.

yes they do it because it is so much cheaper. but I agree, wrong hands = bad!

I just renewed tonight for $77 (for the second year in a row). After my initial 3 month trial was up, I learned about the $77/year deal on here and I called and got it back in October 2005. I was wondering when they would start pestering me to renew but I never heard from them.

Well, today as I'm reviewing my credit card statement, I see a charge for $38.55 from XM. I call them up and they say that when I agreed to the $77/year deal for the year, when that was up I agreed to let them bill me quarterly at the regular price. So I told the guy no way would I authorize that. He asked me if I wanted to cancel the service and I told him that unless I could get the $77/year for an additional year I wanted to cancel. He transferred me to another agent who took care of it--no questions asked and no pressure or jumping through hoops. They just billed my card the additional $38 to make the $77 for the year and that's that.

I'm sure I'll be making this call again in about a year. :D

Nice, I do think XM is worth $77 a year, but certainly not $12.95 a month!

Tried to renew today for $77 using the guidance provided by others on this board. Rep would not give me the offer and advised that I can continue at the regular rate of $38 per quarter. Told her I wasn't interested and I wanted to cancel. She immediately transferred me to the cancellation dept. They were more receptive and obviously didn't want to lose a customer. Five minutes later I was renewed at $77 per year and the bill would be in the mail. (Don't pay with a credit card!)

Bottom line: Threaten to cancel but remain polite about it. Odds are you'll be able to get the $77.

I tried to renew my $77 deal last month.
The rep said he couldn't renew it for $77 but he could give me a 3 month trial and I could renew it in January for the $77.
We'll wee in January.

Agree, same happened to me. I ignored all the XM letters I was getting until they sent me an invoice for the next 3 months at regular rates. I called customer service to cancel, they transferred me to the 'Cancellation dept' (more like damage control dept). After some conversation, the CS rep offered me another year @ $77. After a dramatic pause, I accepted. They will bill me and I'll mail in a check, only this time I think they will charge tax (last year it was only $77). XM desperately wants to keep subs to stave off Sirius . . .

Well, thanks a lot for the advice.

I called the number posted here (my mail had a different number) and said "I want to renew at the $77 dollar rate".

No hassles (my trial ends today).

After using xm for 3 months, I kinda like it -- I "feel" its worth about $6/month, not $13/month...

I gave them my credit card -- if anything "wrong" happens you can always complain to the credit card company....

I just called a few minutes ago and got the $77 rate again. I called yesterday and the guy was an ass so I called again today and it was not a problem. Good luck to the rest of you.

I was driving to work the other day (on my birthday, no less) and my XM radio suddenly went silent! It took me a minute to realize that my 3-month trial was up. No grace period here. After reading about all the folks who were getting the $77 rate, I decided to give it a try. I told the person my trial period was over and I wanted to sign up for the $77 per year rate. He explained that it was a special promotion but would try to do something. He asked me what I would do if I couldn't get the $77 rate. I told him I wouldn't renew since everyone I knew of was renewing for $77. He transferred me to another person who signed me right up. He said there would be a $6.31 tax, but I wasn't going to complain about that. I spent quite a long time on hold, but everyone was very polite. I asked the guy where he was located and he said Panama, Central America.
pianoman41
Well happy belated birthday and congrats on the getting the discounted rate! :D

JUST called to try with the winback77 code, the lady said no and gave me another number to call to cancel.
When i called to cancel she said her dept. was authorized to offer me the $77. deal for another year and to mail it in when i get the bill.
Long story short-threaten to cancel -be polite and you get it for $77.
i did have to pay tax on it though, but still a good deal.

I called today to renew...the first agent said her computer wouldn't allow me to renew with the WINBACK promotional code. I told her that I wanted to cancel and the 2nd agent offered an additional year at $77 after answering some questions about the service. We'll see next year if we can continue to renew at $77.
Thanks to all for their guidance on this forum.

thanks to everyone for this info.

Renewed no problem at 77, but the CSR would not let me renew for more than one year, dagnabbit

Like others I like the service but its not work double this price.

I got the $77 deal renewed for a second year. Just gave the rep the winback77 code. Deal done.

I have been reading through this thread and trying to figure out what the latest promo / code is out there. I am picking up my 07 MDX on Monday, I believe I got 3 free months, but I know I will keep the service (used to have a myfi before I got sirius when I bought a new infiniti).

I am also going to want to get the Nav Traffic service. Anyone know if there is a discount on that too?

Just got the $77/year deal for my 07 MDX and 05 TL. My trial period for the X does not expire until March 1, but I kindda want to get the deal done. XM will not charge my card until my trial end. I've also sign-up for the NavTraffic which is $3.99/month, I guess that is an OK deal.:2:

I just got the winback77 promotion so it still works. Since I have another car on XM is it possible to get a bundle rate?

Finally after some repeated calls to their cust service, I was able to get the 77$ promo yesterday....what a relief. I was without XM for a week and life was boring with FM and their commercials. I was like an incomplete man with it for a week.

way to go....i didnt have any problem i guess it is up to who you talk to

I called mine in yesterday and got the $77 deal for the second straight year.

This time it was on the first call, but last year it took a few times... as "gumbie" said, it is all in who you talk to.

My trial period is good until early April, but I called 1-800-643-6029 today in order to lock in the $77 rate. After giving the perky customer service rep the WINBACK77 code and my radio ID, she offered the rate without hesitation. As suggested by others in previous posts, I politely declined her request for my credit card information and asked that XM send a bill to my address.

Appropriate sign off as I too just called the 800 number to Panama City and spoke to an agent who spoke very broken English. Thankfully, while I didn't need to revert back to my high school Spanish classes, which would have been very humorous to listen to, I was able to decypher his broken English to muddle through the renewal process.

No questions asked when I told him I wanted to activate a one-year renewal. He already knew my address and phone number (from the radio ID) and after rolling through all the credit cards I could use to lock in the renewal I politely asked to be billed - again, no problem.

I then added my wife onto the account for $6.99 per month as part of the "family plan" (it's her birthday on Friday) and also opted for the NavTraffic (at least for a year on that one - I'll evaluate its worth after the summer, when I'll better put the traffic reports to use)

Many thanks to all who contributed their experiences here. Big help indeed!

My wife has a seperate account for xm. Could you tell me more about the family plan? She has had xm for about two years. I think she is paying 12$/month.

XM family plan allows you to add up to another 4 radios to your main account for $6.99 each instead of the $12.95. In your case if you are getting a discounted rate, then cancel your wife's account and add her to yours for $6.99. Link

Exactly. With the winback77 code and family plan combined, you're basically getting two for the price of one.

Just renewed today. Same routine--first guy said I wasn't eligible for the second year at WINBACK77, I said cancel, he transferred me to guy #2 who agreed to give me that rate to keep a customer.

Just got my renewal for $77 today.

My first two calls the reps resisted giving me the offer. One of them said that the $77 dollar offer was only good to customers after they had signed up, so he would wanted me to sign up at the full rate and then the rate would be proactive after a month. I wasnt taking that B.S.

After i gave him the offer code WINBACK77, he said that code would not work because i wasn't technically a customer yet and that the 'computer wouldnt accept the code." Again B.S. and i hung up.

Called back a 3rd time and got a rep to finally accept it and gave me the $77.

Gotta be persistent and don't trust those reps. Thanks everybody for saving me some money!

After my 3 months trial period, I was able to get the $77 special with no problems. Well, my year is almost up and they sent me a notice telling me that they would automatically charge my credit card at the renewal rate of $13/month. SO I called them and tried to get the $77 again and was denied. They told me that this offer is only valid for people coming out of their trial period and that regular renewals are not at this special rate. I said that I would not be renewing at $13/month. They just let me go...My subscription is not up until June 30th. Should I wait until it expires or try again later?

Just give it a few days, and then try again. You may have to call a few times to get it to work.

just wanted to add to this thread.... i called XM to make sure they wouldn't charge my credit card when my XM came due.... first person said they had to transfer me for that....

the guy i got said he could do that, but wanted to know why i was cancelling... told him it wasn't worth it... the $77 was on thing, but over $100 a year... nah..... he offered me the $77!

however.... since i'm in the process of possibly trading in my X for a more economical vehicle :( :( :( :( :( :( i told him i still wanted to cancel/not have my card charged.... he gave me 3 months free (until september 2) and then i can either renew for $77 or cancel!

i thought that was pretty decent! not sure yet if i'm even going to get XM on the new car we're looking at... it's kind of repetitive (although comedy is growing on me)....

anyways... the $77 deal IS out there for renewals!

Once again, I was not able to get the $77/year. They did offer me the $77/year for only 6 months. After that time, it will go back to full price unless I call to cancel. So I did it and will have to put a reminder in outlook to call back. Once again, this forum really helps! thanks to all! Have a great long weekend!

Next time you call the operator, remind him/her that the "winback" code illustrates the purpose for why it was intended - to "win back" customers for another year of renewal. Tell them they haven't won you over by attempting to raise your current rate by over 100%. Then see what the sales rep has to say after the operator transfers you to sales.

You may want to remind them that regardless of the impending merger with Sirius, the last thing XM can afford right now if a declining sales trend.

g35- Don't give up. I got the $77 renewal this week by saying that I had received the winback77 promo code in the mail .

I probably should have said I have the winback23 promo code.

Yeah, I know. I should have been a little more patient. I just didn't have the time to keep calling back. This promo has been going on for a long time. Just look at the long listing of posts. In 6 months, I will call back and get the deal again. It is just not worth it for $13/month...

Yeah I don't think XM, or any satellite radio for that matter, is worth $13 a month! I will pay $7 a month and when I can no longer the the $77 deal, I will drop XM and invest in a Ipod hookup.
jstwannaknow
Does the $77 special include XM traffic?
sobrien1087
No, that's around another $4 per month. I initially subscribed to that and then cancelled it after a month of use. I did not find it particularly useful in my geographic region.

jstwannaknow
Does that mean I could use the WINBACK77 code, then add another $4/month? Has anybody ever tried this? In Southern California it's fairly useful.
sobrien1087
Yes, that's exactly what I did (before I cancelled the traffic later)

Called today. Used the WINBACK77 and it worked the first time. My subscription doesn't expire until end of this month. Phone number is the 800-874-9844. The person was in Jamaca and was very nice. I added the Traffic for a total of 124.88 the first year.
mayl629
Called for the first time today. Told them my trial subscription is about to expired and mentioned about the $77 deal. They gave it to me without asking a question. I also added XM traffic for $3.99 a month. All you need to give them is your radio ID which you can get from XM station 2.

sobrien1087
Is that what this network has become?

It seems I'm listening to more commercials than actual radio time (on channels like ESPN and FoxNews) with the primary focus being male enhancement. The only reprieve is the occassion (aggrivating) commerical for computer virus help.

Have done the $77 renewal 2 times before. However, when I called to renew for the 3rd year a few days ago, I totally struck out. The retention rep was adamant he could not offer the deal - and so I cancelled.

Got a renewal letter saying they going to charge my credit card to renew at 142.45/year. Called their number (800-967-2346) today and told them to cancel, that it was worth $77 to me (I renewed last year at that rate) but not $142. They transfered me to someone else who immediately gave me the $77 rate. But, this is only the 2nd time I've renewed at this rate. I wasn't bluffing about not renewing - I'll pay $77, but it just isn't worth $140+ per year to me.
briaric
I just called to renew and the person would not do the $77. So I canceled. My year was up yesterday. This would have been the 3rd time under a promotion. I gave the code and he would not take it. I may wait for the promotion letter or call. I will attempt to listen to FM for a while....

Called today on 10-20-07 and asked to renew XM at the promotional price of $77/year with $3.99/month for XM traffic using the phone number 800-874-9844. The sales consultant asked for the promotional code which I stated was WINBACK77 and she replied that was a valid code and immediately approved it. I tried to ask for a multi-year, but she said the $77 could only be applied for a 1 year period. I asked her to not apply automatic renewal and send me a bill to avoid giving any credit card numbers, which was fine. The entire process too 10 minutes, including 2 minutes initial waiting on hold to speak with someone.

I just called 10/23/2007 and told them my buddy, which is all of you here on acuramdx.org, is getting xm for $77 per year. We were set for renewal at $142.45. They said I needed a code. I told them that my buddy mentioned winback77 but that I didn't receive the code myself. They told me that I needed to recieve the literature myself. I agreed and said it wasn't worth it to me to pay $142.45 per year and that I would need to cancel. "I'm sorry to hear that and I will need to transfer you to a cancellation rep." Within a few seconds, a woman came on and asked me if I wanted to cancel. I told her that $142.45 was too expensive and that I have a friend getting it for $77 per year. She then said for 'special' customers like me (wait, I never rode the short bus to school, what does she mean special?), they would be willing to offer $77 per year. Would I be willing to keep my service at $77 per year? Of course, she also specified that she would only be able to offer me this deal for one year and that the rate would go back to $142.45 next year.

I was actually willing to cancel. However, even if they didn't give me the discount today, I still have 4 weeks until my service expires. I would expect them to mail an offer to me within that time frame trying to get me to re-activate.

Good luck on getting the same yourself.

I started my XM subscription in Nov 05 at $77/year (after reading about it here). Renewed in Nov 06 at $77/year. This year I call up and the woman sees I've been on that promo two years in a row and claims the computer wouldn't let her do it again three times in a row. However, she gave me 6 months at $38.50 (same as $77/year) and said to call in again when it is ready to lapse and I should be able to get the $77/year again then.

I think I did it for 2 years and now this year it was different. I did not try calling a second time, I just canceled and they did not try to transfer. They sure are inconsistent in the policy. Thought I would just wait for the "Please, we want you back offer." I do miss the Internet XM.

I just got off the phone with a great customer service person at XM's Virginia Call Center. His name was Jeremy.
Anyhow, I used the Winback77 code a year ago after my free trial was over. It was no problem then, and wasn't a problem today.
I got a bill in the mail for $40.85 for three months of service... uh, no way.
So I called and talked with Jeremy. I told him I was thinking of dropping the service, or was there a promo code that I could use? He said, "what's the promo code?" I said I have a winback77 code. He said no problem. He deleted the $40.85 and was surprised I got a bill if I hadn't requested it. I wasn't surprised, actually.
Anyhow, it's all good.
I've got positive posts on this subject on page 13, and now page 18 of this thread. Maybe next year I'll post on page 23 of this thread that I got it three years in a row for $77 each? :D
g35rocker
OK, so I had the $77 for one year after my trial period, then I was able to renew for only 6 months at half the $77 rate. Well my 6 months is over and I decided to call.

So the first person I talked to said it would be the full price. I asked about the promotion and she said they have a department for promotions. She transfered me and I asked the promotions dept about the $77 rate. He asked me "Are you going to cancel today if you have to renew at full price?" Well of course I said yes, and he gave me the $77 rate.

Sounds like he new what I was going to ask, but he had to ask me anyways for documentation purposes (that's my guess)...But I got the discounted rate. Once again, thanks to everyone for all of their help. Hopefully my post will help someone else! Have a great weekend!

Yup, it seems like they're serious about not renewing it for a third time. The first time I called to renew, they refused, so I told them to cancel. I then called a few days before the end date to "confirm the cancellation" and to see if they would offer me the deal, but no dice. I also have not heard a peep from them or any "we want you back solicitations, but it's only been a month.

We'll see - not really missing it, which confirms that it's not worth the $144 full price to me.

I picked up a Sirius combo last month and then I bought the MDX yesterday... which of course has XM! I figure I'll add a sub to XM for the MDX and keep Sirius for my car and once the merger goes through, I'll combine the two accounts...

I'm picking up my MDX on Monday - is there a free 3 month trial with the XM ? ..and following that you guys used the winback77 promo (I wonder if that promo is also available in .ca .. prolly the winback99 here..)

Well, I received a letter a few weeks about the "automatic credit card debit" for renewal. I canceled that (and found they charge $2 for invoices).

My membership expires 12/08 (I couldn't see this on the "my account info" on the website...

I subscribed at the winback77 last year (when my 3 month was about to run out).
I definitely am not interested in paying $160 or so a year (seems it worth about $77).

Since I turned off automatic credit card payments, should I just wait for it to run out? Will they contact me? Or should I contact them and try the winback77 code after it expired and turns off...

Since I just elected to get invoices last week, I wonder whether I'll hear from them...
I called them tonight and hung up after I was on hold for about 3 minutes....

I received a large postcard with an offer to reactivate the radio at 50% for a year (or $4.99 for 3 months). The number is 1-866-542-4983. I called and was transfered to a "special" department and they gave the $77 a year deal. They are going to invoice with the $2 charge. I just don't want somebody automatically charging the credit card very often, especially at a higher rate.

I will turn on the radio later today to get the channels. There was no special promo code on the card except for the account number with the last 2 digits missing and my zip code. I mentioned the 50% off and it is good until December 31st.

I see online that my account is now reactivated although the xmradio internet feed is not working. I think that takes them a day or two to get working.

A successful three-peat. Called to renew for the third and requested the $77 rate. Was told no, because it was my third time. I said no problem I'll cancel.

Transferred me to the "special department". Told them I was canceling because I couldn't get the $77 rate. Person "checked with their supervisor" and gave me the $77 rate.

Process really seems to be a matter of chance on who you get.

Got my $77 renewal a few days ago. When my trial was expiring, XM called (several times) but did not give me the $77 rate. I didn't really push it and the person did not offer anything when I told her I will not be renewing. A couple of weeks later, XM called back and offered to waive the activation fee and the $77 for 1 year deal.

Called last week after the trial period ran out, and asked for the $77/yr deal. No hesitation at all they gave me the rate.

I just called and asked them to renew my subscription at the $77 rate and they did it without any problems. Also added NavTraffic for $3.99 a month.

The bargain continues.......I also called 1-800xm radio gave them the code Winback77 the guy sounded disappointed I called him on that but never-the-less was very polite about giving me the deal.

$77 annual subscription to start in March and added Traffic for $3.99/month.

XM radio comedy alone is worth the deal.

I just tried for it, the lady said I got it last year so I couldn't have it again.

I told her I would like to cancel.

She transferred me. The guy asked me why I was cancelling, I told him I had a renewal for $77 and the first lady wouldn't let me use it. I am willing to pay $77 for it but XM is not worth $140 to me.

He said he would accept the $77 renewal.

All set for another year :2:

Just renewed XM, first time off of 3 month trial. They didn't even ask for the code or anything. Just said I wanted to renew at the $77 rate and they did it and billed me for it so no c.c info was given. No issues no problems :2:

Just renewed my subscription for $77 a year and like the previous post, they didn't ask any questions and were very nice about it. They will also charge my card when my trial is up so I can enjoy a few more free days of XM. Let's hope that in one year there is another deal to be had!

Was the $77 deal for renewals only? I am just about to finish my 3 month free trial for my 08 MDX and was able to get them to give me a new subscription for 12months at $4.99 so $60 for the year.

I think $5/month is the max I'd pay if they won't renew it after this first year expires (even tho I'm enjoying listening to XM at work..heh :2: )

Got the annual renewal notice that was going to charge me $155.40 and told them i wanted to cancel..they offered me the renewal again at $77/year. This is my 3rd year using the $77 deal. I didn't even ask for it this time and the guy said he could renew at that price. The nice thing is I turn the car in in 8 months so I can get the 3 months back for not using the whole year. I didn't know that.

I was able to renew again today at the half price amount. I just said I would not pay the full amount, but that I would accept another renewal at the Winback rate of $77.

Second or third year for me also.

I agree it is worth the $77 but not the full amount.

Can anyone tell me the code to use after the initial trial period that gives you a discount on the first year for xm? I read somewhere that for acura mdx owners that it is half price for the first year. Thanks

Gents,
First of all let me assure you I searched on this with no joy. Maybe i screwed up the search but it did not work.

Also i am sure I saw some posts on this months ago.

Anyway, my free 3 months is up. I got a note about 1 year for $142.45. Is there any better deal than this? I thought I saw something for $75 or something?

Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been beat to death before.
