Sounds desperate? oh yeah, they are.

Ours ran out in March and they are still calling trying to get us to renew! I received a coupon in the mail for $4/month for 5 months. Tempting but I really don't see the value in it. $20/year, maybe? Besides I think XM sounds horrible in the X.

I really enjoy the XM, we listed to music commercial free, and we love the comedy channels. Talk radio is OK, but too many commercials.

WOW! $20 for 5 months sounds pretty good to me.... I dont have it but my wife has it in her RDX and its up for renewal this month. I guess if I cant get them to give me the $60 deal I will hold out a bit and see if I get some "desperate" offers.... The wife really digs it so one way or the other I cant see us NOT renewing. Good to see I will be able to save some $$$

I also just got a renewal for half off regular price -- which comes to $77.70 annually. Unfortunately, I had to talk to an operator, her supervisor and ultimately the cancelation department before they would honor the discounted price again. Each time they kept saying it's only a one time deal and it can't be honored a second time. Well it can if you're persistent and you threaten to cancel. Can't wait to do it all again next year.

Just called to see if I could renew for the same rate I currently have ($77). They said no, it's a one time only deal. Told them I wanted to cancel and transfered me to the cancellation department. Asked me why and after I told her the reason, she simply said ok, no problem. Renewed for 2nd year at $77.

Boy, XM must hate these discussion boards! :)

It was time to renew the account for my wife's Honda. I have been researching buying an MDX and wondered if adding a second XM account cost $6.95 per year or per month .

It's per month... duh... so while I was talking to the customer rep I said that I recall reading "somewhere on the Internet" about a $77 per year cost.

He immediately said that he would need to transfer me to another representative and that if I felt it was too expensive and that I thought I would need to cancel my account, I would need to discuss my options with her. That's exactly the emphasis he had in his voice. To this point I had no intention of canceling... we love satellite radio... but I replied to him, "I understand."

So I mentioned to the next rep that my wife and I were going over our budget and wondering if we could still afford the luxury of our satellite radio account. She did not hesitate to announce that her records confirmed that I was a "valued customer" (I think that means... I'm a paying customer) and that she was authorized to offer me a one-time price of $77 (plus tax) for a year service.

After reading that members here have simply gotten the special price again and again, I certainly will try.

I can say that both representatives were very nice with me. It almost seemed they had "done this before" but had to say certain things, certain phrases, because they knew that tapes of their conversations were reviewed by their supervisors. I will also say that I have the best luck negotiating discounts like this when I remain polite, respectful, but persistent.

Thanks to all on this board!

Just a heads up for those who sign up for the $77 a year deal. When that year is up, they automatically renew at the regular rate. You have to call them up prior to the expiration and let them know you intend to let the subscription expire, otherwise, they will just bill you.
When I called them with intention to cancel, they routed me to a department that offered the $77/year deal without question.

Just got it $77 for a year. They asked me if I want to keep my credit card on file for future payments. I chose it to be one time payment for now.:2:
