another tranny problem, 2 days ago when i tried to change my oil, when i went under the X, oh what did i see?, transmittion fluid is leaking out of the transmittion, but nothing was on the ground, and the fluid was low by 3/4 quart when i tried to add some in.
yesterday i bought in the X, and the problem is the seal in the torque converter broke according to my neighbour (my Acura service advisor), and it will be at the earlies my X will be home by tomorrow.
Could any one tell my what really happening? do i have to really worry about the tranny is worn out by some degree because is was low by 3/4 quart? and will they have to replace all the fluid in the tranny? What about long term consequence?
While the X is in i let them change my oil and the differential oil and my neighbour charge me $99. I think the deal is ok.
Thanks |

Seriously, if the seal failed "just becuase" then maybe it was a freak thing and nothing to worry about, but if they suspect the seal failed due to improper installation, excessive pressure, broken/loose mounting point, out-of-spec case tolerance or something else then you might be in-line for some other problems.
Only a trained technician who is carefully inspecting the seal area will know for sure.
Please let us know how it goes!
BTW $99 sounds like a very fair price for oil change & VTM service (if that's what they meant by differential oil...) |

Got the X back yesterday, from the description of the repair, it said a distort seal in the torque converter and up on inspection they replace all 3 seal (the main seal, the torque coverter seal and the transmittion seal). It shows 7.5 hour of work on this.
Because of all the fluid in the transmittion was flushed, it shifts very smooth now than before.
and my bill for VTM-4 and oil change service came out to 101.64 (with all taxes included).
after having a 2005 TL-Navi loaner for 3 days, driving the X now is so different, and want to get rid of it, but I need a 3 row SUV:2: |
