The price is considerably less than Silverstars.

They are made in Hungary.

I bought a pair at WalMart.

I will install the 9006s in my Bravada & try and shoot some side-by-sides with the Silverstar equipped MDX tonight.

I know that the Bravada has much different reflector & lense, but at least the color & intensity should be visible.

Lets hope for "good headlight weather"...

P.S. the name they picked makes it sound like we are the target market: Nighthawk

Dear renov8r

I have been using the Sylvania bulbs for the past 14 months - they have not yet burned out and I am very pleased with them.

Please post the price savings of the GE bulbs vs. the Sylvania and your impression of which one is brighter.

Many thanks,

JeffK

Jeff,
Here is the most Ive been able to find. It appears the last link is to a forum where they evaluate accessories. Maybe they will post pics, etc. in the near future.

It is supposed to warm up Thursday. The Bravada requires me to remove a few screws to get behind the headlamp assembly and I'm not risking frostbite, so no pictures for a few more nights.

The Nighthawks are about $10 a pair cheaper than the Silverstars. I do like the increased brightness and the color is very nice, not "ricey". I have yet to see positively identified PIAAs in person, but I worry that the "purple blue" lights I see on some imports is what I'd get...

The glass on the Nighthawks appears colorless, which should give maximum light. (BTW the factory bulbs on the Bravada are really poor, combined with the diffuse lense/reflector I often feel like I am overdriving their throw...) The Silverstar probably puts out 10% more light than the MDX factory bulb, and the color is much much whiter. I should take a "before" picture to show just how dramatic the difference is.

The lifespan on Silverstars has not been great, I am on the second pair and the vehicle was purchased in July 03. I don't know if the rough Chicago roads are more to blame or simply how much night driving we do -- given that we are on the eastern edge of the central time zone we need headlights for both the commute in and the commute home for much of the winter...
