My front doors no longer have that solid air-tight thud when closing. They now sound tinny and hollow with a slight rattle. The dealership tells me this is normal, but I think I would have noticed it before.
The rear doors still have the solid air-tight thud. They attribute the difference to the rear doors being smaller.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks!

Best way to check that is to go "shopping" for a brand new MDX. Slam the dealerships freakin' doors!
Then go back and close yours. See if there's a real difference,
The "smaller rear doors" explanation is some of the most unmitigated BS I've heard today. |

| This happens as things loosen up over time...I doubt this is anything that would be fixed under warranty, but some dynamat would definitely cure the problem if you're willing to dig inside the doors. |

Part of the feeling is the actual pressure of air against the weatherstripping -- sorta like when you close a Tupperware bowl.
If the weatherstripping is ripped the air doesn't get squeezed and the door slam feels mushy.
First I'd clean all the weatherstripping after a thorough carwash. Then get some of your favorite "treatment" and wipe all the weatherstipping down. Any area that looks worn/torn should be replaced.
Good Luck! |

| I just bought a used MDX 2002 and am experiencing the same issue on the driver door. Did you find any solution for this problem ? I was going to call the dealer today and have them look at it. The hollow or tinny sound only occurs on the driver side door. |

Probably because it's the door with the most use. Likely more compression of the weatherstripping. I have not noticed anything significant myself. |
