Just thought I would ask...can the DVD NAV play a regular DVD (movie)? Does anyone know of any hacks or ways to make this happen?
TIA

No. By law the front seat nav display cannot be used for pictures. |

| Just curious since I see people buy the DVD systems for their cars from Alpine (the same people who make our system). |

Do searches on here.
The Nav screen can be used for regular video without affecting Nav by selection, but requires additional electronics and custom installation.
It's been done more than once. The DVD drive (for Nav) is not designed to output conventional video (mpeg2, etc ) for NTSC movies.
It's only illegal to have it on while you are driving as far as I know. The capability is not illegal if you do it yourself.
Obviously, auto mfrs. are not going to assume that liability. |
