I just got my 2004 X and I noticed that when I roll down my drivers side window then immediately roll it back up, there's wet water streaks (obviously this happens after I wash the car and wipe it dry). This doesnt happen to my Honda Accord and was just wondering if there was a rubber seal problem with the X's windows and a lil bit of water is going into my door panels.
BTW, I'm happy to have found this board :) |

| Oh man if only to have your problems. Mine have streaks AND are plastered with ice in the -11 weather. Maybe I shouldn't have washed it ? :D |

You can't be serious...EVERY car has some water streaks after a car wash that comes from the window tracks! |

There is no way to prevent water from entering the interior of the door without making a solid window panel. Water does enter a door and is let out via holes in the very bottom of the door. There is also a plastic deflector inside the door to keep it from wetting the switches and interior door panel |

While this is true......the MDX does not seal very well though. It is a poor design. Most windows will "squeegee" away the moisture with the outside weatherstrip. My MDX doesn't do this.......it's not even close. But it isn't a flaw. |

EXACTLY..after washing my accord and completely drying my windows and rolling them down and up, it doesnt have that streaking effect, like my X does. Thanks EUROHAZARD, i thought it was just me having high standards.
thats a weird statement though, "its a poor design..but its not a flaw".. i bought an acura for it's "high quality" but nobody's perfect, i guess.

HawaiianMDX,
My statement does sound kind of dumb. But I guess you know what I meant by it. Your MDX isn't defective, but rather the design of the weatherstrip is a little below the standards Honda/Acura has set.
I agree with your nobody's perfect comment too. For everything Acura didn't do perfect, there are 100 things they got right. |

Wow that's almost the same as - 40 degree F, anyway recently Hawaii was reported as: "77°F Feels Like 80°F" ....including windchill of course. |

My 2003 MDX has these streaks on the inside...the outside has no streaks whatsoever...And when the water dries, you can see the marks, which looks plain ugly :(
And thats on both the front doors...the back doors are just fine. |

Haven't been on line in a while and saw your post. Welcome, as a new member myself you'll find the members here are very helpful. I'm surprised no one has suggested to have you send your X back to the dealer to "fix" your streaks or at least try to explain why yours does this. At least you aren't going through what a few members have gone through with flooded floorboards and leaks through their doors after a rainstorm and even yuk mold! If you read through some of the other posts here, you're lucky it's only streaks(':)'). And by the way Aloha!(':2:') |

yeah, true that. I only found this forum AFTER we got the X..I would have asked a LOT more questions at the dealer about all the troubles/complaints..(although there's no reason why I couldnt ask them now). Figure I can deal with the streaks for now until I have time to turn it in to Acura for some "TLC". When I do, I'll update you guys.
Aloha |

If it's any consolation, I did the same thing and bought my 01 X and this forum after. You have an 04 which has gone through a number of improvements like more hp (240 to 265), better insulation from wind noise, RES, taillights, dual exhaust( which look racy), bigger BSMs, better leather seats(debatable), newer style tranny, no weepy mirrors, the infamous 'thud' is not as pronounced, overall a much improved vehicle. After reading more of the threads here, helped me feel so much better about my X(':D')
And if you accessorize don't forget about Tim at HAW. He does have the best price!
I just picked up a wood knob, air filter and cabin filter. Saved $$ over the local dealer.(':4:') |
