I know DaleB will appreciate this...

Just rec'd a Blitzsafe to install an XM Skyfi2. Ordered the HON/XM DMX DEL v1 as suggested on the board and in their application guide.

I know some folks have noted their lack of quality control w/r/t mislabeled left-right plugs and DOA units. Fortunately, my plugs are colored without labels and it turns out isn't DOA...

But check out this rocket science from our premium-priced, made-in-USA friends at Blitzsafe:

  • The packaging on the box indicates it's the unit I ordered for '99+ Hondas and Acuras.
  • The unit itself is labeled HON/XM DEL v1 (note lack of DMX; the label indicates it is for 91-98 Honda/Acura)
  • I crossed referenced that model number w/their application guide; it is an 8-pin round connector
  • The connector on the unit is 14 pin rectangular.
  • The instructions say it's a DMX DEL v1 for 92-98 Honda/Acura (but that model is not for those model years, it's for 99+)
  • The instructions thank me for purchasing a v1d interface (dual input) even though every previous reference is the single input
  • The instructions indicate that the unit is to be plugged into the 8-pin round connector, although the connector for all the model numbers referenced (except for the label on the unit itself) are 14-pin rectangles.

No wonder they don't have a toll-free tech support line; they'd be broke.

What.a.bunch.of.maroons. :bonk:

(Since the plug fit, I installed it to check. It works. Go figure.)

I remember when I called support BEFORE buying one and holy sh*t I couldnt understand him. I mean he didnt have a accent I JUST COULDNT UNDERSTAND HIM, he mumble so badly it was awful. I just said never mind and hung up and call the people at Streeteffectz.

Actually, the one I talked to at support was quite helpful. Though sounded a bit like I interrupted his lunch. He could not believe it would not work. Considering just the few I've read about that have failed on first try I was surprised at his response.
Then he sort of sighed deeply, "Well, if you are sure you tried everything, return it through your dealer for another one".
Which I did, and the replacement (with the mislabeled audio cables) continues to perform just fine.
