When the DVD player is down, does it block the view for the rear view mirror ?

Yes it does a little, but the kids love them. :29:

Is it a full block of the view, or can you bob around and still see?

I know the kids love them, that is why I am trying to see how much they obstruct the view, meaning is it workable to still see, or is it bad enough to where you have to close the DVD to see, then open it back up ?

You can do the old 'bob and weave' and still see out the back. Of course it does depend on your seat height, etc. but for me it has not been a problem.

I am a fairly short guy, so I am hoping it won't be a problem for me either :)

I have found it blocks my view a little bit. I don't like to let my son use the RES in the daytime. But night time is OK. I have found situations where the RES screen can block out a whole car. But at night, even if I can't see the vehicle, I can at least see the light from the headlights (or pretty flashing blue lights, depending who's behind you)!

Imagine the rear view mirror divided into 3 parts vertically. In my seating position, the RES will cover the upper half of the middle section. Hope this helps.
