The only experienced I had was with TDWaterhouse. I closed the account after made of with a few grands right before the tech bubble busted in the '90s:).
Anyway, never had any problem with their service. The main reason I chose them was they had an actual office near where I worked. I would recommend them, but i'm sure there are others good ones out there. good luck. |

I use Scottrade for dabbling with small stocks. Good service, cheap. Easy to navigate.
In most cases you have to use a local Scottrade office for deposits. But can be done by mail also. At first that seemed like an inconvenience. but if there is a problem it's good to have a real person to talk to. It would seem to be less of a security problem for the same reason vs. doing money transfers across the internet.
For bank transactions I never had a problem, but when there are 3rd parties involved I get a bit leary (ala ebay and paypal, etc.). |

On the larger scale, I've had my IRA with both Wachovia and now with Dain Rauscher. I highly recommend either for great service.
And if anybody is nearing retirement or rollover time, etc. I can highly recommend my broker who is resident in Portland, OR.... PM me. |
