Looking into finally getting it, which one and why?
I am biased towards Opie and Anthony. |

| Seems you've answered your own question. Go for the programming you enjoy. |

Ask 10 people, you'll get 10 different answers (Even though there's only 2 correct ones!)
A LOT of people I know are talking about Sirius lately because of Stern. I think both XM and Sirius are going to be around a long time.
If you like Opie and Anthony, you've already got a shoe-in for XM. Plus, you're driving an Acura. They use XM. Most likely, you're next Acura (If you do another) will have XM. Might as well get used to it and enjoy it.
I think you'll find the same type of programming at both places. I really think they're about the same. Unless you have to have a certain type of station (O&A or Stern.) I THINK XM was cheaper, and I did a multi-year, which is refundable at any time. I like that part. |

I have had Sirius for 1 year and my gym has XM. In case you listen to either trance, house or hip hop there is only 1 choice, Sirius. XM recently added dance music to their lineup and those 2 real station are awful. The 2 real hip hop station are never consistent and awful as well. I say real because the disco station does not count. Sirius has 4 real dance stations and they aren't perfect but at least 1 of them will be enjoyable at all times. Sirius has at least 4 hip hop stations and I always find myself going back and forth between a couple of them because they have some really good DJs.
XM has a PlayBoy station, which is awsome but you have to pay extra to get it! Sirius has the Maxim station and you get it at no additional costs but as of now they seem to be on only at nights. Sirius has 2 comedy stations but usually they aren't all that good.
Both services now claim to be either commercial free or close to it but they talk about their own service every 3 minutes.
Sirius subscription costs more then XM but that is for a reason. Regular fm radio is better then XM when it comes to entertainment stations, hip hop, or dance. |

I'm biased towards my iPod and saving $10/12 a month on an overpriced service. I'm still on my three month trial on XM but I still find myself channel surfing because I don't find songs I really like to hear. My iPod has about 3700 songs that I really like - I could shuffle for pure randomization or shuffle within playlist, artist, genre, composer....you get the idea. Now with podcasting, I can listen to radio shows I like when I'm driving. With all those options of getting excellent content, you couldn't get me to subscribe to satellite radio for even $5 (that's like five songs) a month .
Save the money, get something you own and control. |

I don't think you can go too wrong with either service. I have XM in the car and was considering a 'home unit' until I realized Dish network carries about a dozen or so Sirius music channels along with their own, so I am well covered.
I avoid trances whenever I can. :D |

XM has had 3 dance channels now for over over 2 years (not including the disco channel). One channel (The Move) is for live dance sets which includes the weekly Radio One broadcoasts. This channel includes 2 hour mixes by DJs such as DJ Fuse, Digweed, Kleinenburg, etc. Another channel (The System) plays mainly trance/House and you can hear songs by Sasha, Christopher Lawrence, Tiesto, Deep Dish, etc. These are all top name DJs.
Another channel (BPM) plays remixes and other trancey pop hits.
The Move and The System are very good. |

6001-6090 are Sirius channels and 919-981 are standard music channels.
I have T-180 programming service. Maybe it varies by programming options. |

We just picked up XM (Skyfi2, car kit) and I finished installing it last night.
IMO if you're into sports, you should get Sirius. Otherwise, like dipersp said, you're going to get lots of different answers. People seem to like both pretty much the same.
I was ambivalent betw the two, to tell you the truth. The fact that I hate monthly fees and the lower price of XM skewed me SLIGHTLY in that direction.
What really made the difference in our case was the unit itself and the UI. If you're on the fence for the programming differences, I'd recommend going to BestBuy/etc and checking out the units. IMO the XM units were a bit more sturdy than the Sirius units, and there seemed to be a greater variety. This one's primarily for MrsWorm and after playing around w/them, I felt the SkyFi2 was the best one for her (UI, form factor). Sirius' Sportser was also nice from that perspective, but since programming wasn't the issue for her, I went for the cheaper monthly fees.
Be sure to consider possible mounting options in the X, however. There's no "ideal" place for a Skyfi2 given its size. The Commander and Roady are easier to integrate into the dash. (I installed the SkyFi on the Panavise phone mount; it's super-accessible but doesn't look as good as it would've under the radio stack; now gotta find a new mounting place for the phone). |

| You can get all of MLB with XM at no extra cost. I am from chicago but moved to NC so it is hard to catch the Cubs games, now I can at no extra cost :) |

When it comes to the 01-02 MDX I think one of the biggest pros is the way the kenwood fits. It looks clean, check it out:

I'm nearing the end of the three month trial period and I still don't see the point in subscribing to a heavily overpriced system. The sound quality is quite good but I'm still station surfing a lot. I was glad to see this article on Forbes that articulated exactly what I was thinking - http://www.forbes.com/personaltech/...satellite.html.
The value of these services are highly overvalued and for a MP3 player user, worth almost nothing. I think a good gauge will be to look at how many ipod connectors are sold by the auto manufacturers that provide it now compared to satellite subscription.
I think I might subscribe to the service if they offered it at $1.95 a month. With their current value around $.42, it still gives them a healthy margin.
Now all I have to do it to wait for a decent iPod connector for the MDX. |

I had Sirius for the past two years until I just got my X. I like Sirius a little better because I like the Rock stations on Sirius better than XM. But since XM is builded in, I will just go with it.
I can't go back to normal radio anymore, too much talking. |
