| Nice now GOOD LUCK with the upkeep,my wife and I wanted granite for a long time. Holy hell with the upkeep just as much as a car. Make sure you never ever put anything that remotely might have oil or you will have a nice perm ring or stain. Just think of it as unfinished wood. |

Warzau- Two words- Miracle Sealants!
Study their site. Learn from their site. They are the preeminent supplier of stone maintenance products.
You need to seal the granite with their 511 Impregnator once or twice in the first three months, then every two years. THis will eliminate your view of granite as unfinished wood.
Use their MiraClean for routine cleaning, and the Miracle Disinfectant if you let chicken contaminate the granite pores.
The Stone Polish will give you a magnificent shine before parties.
Last, but not least, keep a jar of their Poultice for emergency stain removal. The have great instructions for oil and other stain removal.
And- buy yourself a cheap orbital 10" polisher. It'll save hours of time . |

Fab-
Is that Black Onyx, Blue Pearl, or what? I really like the deep bevel edge. Is it two layers of 3 cm, or is it trimmed around the edges with a strip of 3mm? Nice effect! |

Not sure of the formal color name or code. All I know this is the "top" grade granite. Caution those companies selling so called granite from China and India ! Those are the countries that sell poor products. My guy told me a customer bought a so called granite from a company, so he instructed him to purchase it, cut it and install. When he got to the poishing stage, he noticed that little scratches were all over the stone. He was freaking because he couldn't get them out, so he brought it to his friend in the business for 40 years ! 2 experts here. They concluded that this was some type of hybrid granite (not pure from respective countries who sell the best, Brazile, Costa Rica, Italy etc....) They concluded it was 70% granite and the rest probably camel ****...........becareful who you do business with. He did not caution me about anything staining his products, besides he backs it up with a life time warranty ! :1: :1: :1: |

They do contain tetrahydazolinoxymoronbadassstuff volatiles, but the Miracle Sealants products are used routinely by pros on pro food preparation surfaces. At least one of them has approval from FDA for food contact. Read the site, you'll be converted. Your option is to learn to live with stained granite. Which is okay, if that's your choice.
FABVSIX- the web site is miraclesealants.com . You will learn to love it, especially the first time your partner puts bacon on a paper towel to drain, and you have a large grease stain deep in the stone.
I have about 110 squares of granite in the kitchen. After it was sealed and polished a few times, it's less maintenance than the stainless appliances. Easier, too, since it's at waist height.
Just in case nobody told you, never stand or hammer on the granite, especially the narrow areas like the sink cutout. Very hard stuff, but brittle- a whack in the wrong place at the wrong time can crack it. |

| My Granite specilist said "Absolutely Not" to putting anything on the slabs ! He said he seals his product well and said if "anything" appears, hel'll gladly refund my money ! He backs his products 18 years in the business. Has a backup that has been doing marble/granite for the past 40 years ! They both say NO to all that stuff ! It's all in the sealing of the product that most companies/contractors "leave it up to the owners"........:1: :1: :1: |

| Yep. My granite guys sealed it, as well. Two months later, I sealed it again, then repeated that in 6 months and at two years. Listen to your guy, especially if he guarantees against stains. |
