Okay I know this is dumb......
So I have this sub in the back of my '02 X. I don't get it. It really doesn't do much.
If I put in a better sub, I doubt that's all I need to do to make a difference.
Am I missing something?
My '98 4 Runner sounds the same and it doesn't have a sub.
Any thoughts? |

| Be sure to press the white Rear Pwr button. If you have RES it may have shut off the sub. |

You must have a better system/newer model. My '02 is a premium model. It doesn't seem to have a rear power button. The only thing I can do is pull out the Base Fade and increase the base.
It just doesn't sound all that great.
Thanks though |

| There are tons of threads on here about the sub woofer. From thorough installation instructions right on down to full mods. Just try a search for sub woofer. Good luck. |

No, you're right. The factory sub sucks. It really is just a full range speaker that does nothing substantial. I ended up putting in an aftermarket sub and added an aftermarket amp. The factory amp is somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 watts. Not much at all.
But like andreseng mentioned, do a search and you will find plenty of opinions and options. Good luck. |

The thing that drives me crazy is the whole interior back panel on the sub's side rattles when any thing with the slightest amount of bass is playing. Took it in to service, who acted like they knew what I was talking about. They installed some type of ring that was supposed to stop the problem. It tightened it up very slightly. I need to "replicate" it for them on my next trip in. |
