My new "used" MDX, that is.
Filled up yesterday for the first time since I bought my 02 "X" last week, and I was impressed to have achieved 19.5 MPG (calculated manually) in city driving (I mostly drive on freeways, but I'm impressed nonetheless).
I can't wait to see what it can do for mileage on our upcoming ski trip later this month, but if this is any indication, I know I won't be dissapointed :4:

First, Congratulation and welcome to the family !
I also owns a 02 MDX.:)
Secondly, 19.5MPG is very good for city driving, I got about
17.5MPG when I am light on my pedal... |

Do you guys notice a significant difference in your mileage on very cold days (in other words, the mileage on my '02 MDX is much worse when the weather is cold)?
I've tried messing around with the heat settings to see if I can find a remedy, but at present I'm getting about 14.5 MPG at best in the city when I'm light on the peddle. |

I don't think the heat settings will help.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the intake temperature of the air. I'm new to the MDX, but on other vehicles, I've always found them to get the best mileage with outside air temps in the low 70's where the air coming in is reasonably warm, but air conditioning for the driver is not yet necessary. |

:2:
Just got back from my Ski trip to Santa Fe and the results are astounding (see attached text file).
These results are using premium Gas (93 octane in Texas, and 90 & 91 in New Mexico).
Hwy. speed was 60 on highway (four adults and fully loaded with luggage, etc. and lots of mountain driving throughout Santa Fe & Taos Ski resorts with six adults (lowest mpg on chart).
Mountain driving through snow was absolutely awesome, as it handled like it was dry pavement..
Also, got in a canyon about 1000 ft. deep at a state park in Taos, and climbed out of it through small winding mud road while raining, and it handled it like it was made for it.
I am very impressed with the off road performance of the vehicle's VTM, as well as the Michelin Cross Terrains.
Thanks,

A lot of short trip driving in cold weather will reduce mileage. You will be running a greater precentage of time with the choke at some stage of engagement.
On longer trip cold weather you should get better mileage because cold air is more dense. This increase will be less apparent than the decrease because of running with the choke on.
