Wasn't that the BEST half time show ever?? That fireworks show during LIVE AND LET DIE was awesome!!! Imagine getting those fireworks coordinated during the chorus!! If you want to see more, get McCartney's Back in the U.S. DVD and play in your MDX!!! Pity we can't route it to the main NAV screen!!

Anyway, whew.....

You're joking, right??

Uhh...I have to agree. Pretty good stuff. The wife and I were joking about McCartney being a Brit and all, but other than that, it was better than the 1st 1/2 of football.

great team work by patriots and rock solid like acura mdx

It was the lamest display of pseudo-rock entertainment I've seen since...last year!

McCartney looked like my grandmother.

At least there was plenty of pro-war propaganda to keep us tuned in for all of the interesting ad spots!

That half time show was nice!!

But no wardrobe malfunction this time though (but that was in one of those ads early on in the game).

It was just okay for me. I like the Beatles, and I like the music. But for a big event like this I'd want something more interesting. That is, short of someone popping out of their costume.

But really, can't they do something else than digging out a 62-year old like McCartney? I thought the NFL was trying to reach out to a younger demographic?

It doesn't keep me awake nights that uniquely American events or 9-11 retrospectives seem to be dominated by McCartney, U2, and Celine Dion. But what's up with that? There are a lot of great American acts they can put in there, without the wardrobe malfunction.

From AP:

"McCartney's stage set - a giant cross of video boards on the stadium floor with the singer at the centre - was visually arresting, although it made his opening song, Drive My Car, look like one of the broadcast's dozens of auto commercials.

McCartney's theatrical James Bond theme Live and Let Die was a perfect backdrop for a stadium fireworks show. The lights, placards and video images also made Hey Jude a sight to see, although it was odd to see the red, white and blue placards co-opt one of the original British musical invaders for an all-American event.

It was strange seeing the former Beatle, a bold and shocking performer for another generation, now presented as the sedate option. NFL censors were probably hoping the "California grass" reference in Get Back slipped by unnoticed, or figured people would think he was simply referring to a football field. "

I really liked the halftime show and I'm not a Beatles fan whatsoever. I kind of hoped the would have brought out Axl Rose for a Live and Let Die duet :D

Think about the enormous amount of planning and coordination it takes to put that show together and compound that with the lighting, fireworks and giant floor screen images all working together.

That they made Paul McCartney seem musically relevant in 2005 was probably the biggest success.

I agree. Whether or not he's a stiff is up for debate. But I thought they did a tremendous job of appealing to the younger NFL target demos. The pre-show was pretty good too except for the guy from BEP forgetting to mention Gretchen Wilson at the end.

Axl wouldn't have come out. I believe there was a horn section but not a 1-976-HORN section. Also there's a no kilt policy in Jacksonville and a shortage of Sue-B honey to make him sing, well, the way he does.
