Does anyone know if there is an after market bluetooth add on for the 2004 MDX ? I know its built in the 2005 X.

I just ordered the Parrot CK3100. It's better than the Factory 2005.

On Ebay for $199.00. I have a 2004 MDX with the Factory nav, and RES and also I installed the AVelectronic Unit or the so called "Sam's Unit". So I'm going to see if I can have the CK3100 screen show on my Nav screen.

Here is a link for the Patrrot CK3100

I also have a 2004 MDX with NAV/RES. Would I be able to hookup the Radio interupt or is it alot of wire splicing involved? Thanks for the info.
eyboro
According to the instructions if this feature is available on your car then you should be able to. If you have nav then I'm sure it's possible.

Thanks again for the info. Would you happen to have a website where I can buy this? I can only find UK site.

Hey did you hookup the Parrot yet? If so how did it work? Does it interrupt the Radio?
eyboro
Check ebay for "Parrot Ck3100" there are plenty available.

Why do you think its better? Or is it something the manufacturer claims you'll have? :) Here are the main features Parrot lacks that I can see right off the bat:

  • Installation required - Nothing like having a device built in to save time and/or money. Then you also increase chances of screwing something else.
  • Only pairs with three phones. Acura pairs with six bluetooth phones
  • The OEM Bluetooth modules accepts numbers from the navigation system and address book. Its a major plus for me.

Having said that, its a great option for older MDXs.

Anjan:
You were fortunate enough to get a 2005 model (which I think have bluetooth built in ). We have the 04 models without buluetooth, so we dont have much of a choice. The parrot was rated as one of the top bluetooth add ons for non bluetooth cars.

So yes, we have to install. Of course built in is better.
For me, I only have 2 phones, so 3 is more than enough.
My address book is in my phone, not the NAV.

I wish I had waited for the 05 model, but hey things happen.

Niall,

That's why I said its a great choice for pre-2005 models. :) I was responding to eyboro's comment that its "better than factory 2005". For something as simple as a bluetooth module, there isn't much scope to match, much less beat, any OEM pre-installed system.

And sure enough, when I compared specs it lacks in two major areas...

I would take exception to that and surely SPCA will also. I know you want something to help you talk but strapping a helpless bird?! Come on!!

Damm.. The connectors that came with the Parrot is not same on the radio. Now I need to find an adapter, I think ISO adapter.
eyboro
It will be installed on Wednesday 2/16/05.

I just got it today.

I'll let you know how it went when it's done.

Well since I couldn't get the Vehicle specific adapter, I had to rig it. I spliced the RCA cable going into my Aux. I dont have the radio mute feature and I cant seem to get the address book synced with my Blackberry 7520. But I can live with that. I still need to work out some sound quality issues. Good luck with yours.

What do you mean you don't have the radio mute? Every Nav MDX has that feature. I installed the ck3100 with the radio mute the mute feature works great. It paired perfectly with my T610 Sony Ericsson. The only issue I have is the speakers are too loud at the lowest volume. I think my installer wired the speakers before the Amp. He needs to wire the speaker wires after the amp.

Do you know what connectors your installer used? And where he connected it? I installed this myself and I know that my MDX has a mute feature. I did not connect it behind the radio, I spliced the RCA cable going to the gaming system hookup at the back of the car, so as a result I dont have the mute feature. By the way do you know where the amp is?
