My Silver MDX has "landed" ( dealer's words, not mine:D ) and I am trying to decide between the running boards or the chrome bars. The running boards are lower, making it easier for older people to get in. They are about the same in price.
The dealer also has Winter floor mats. There is also a "protection package which is a cargo liner with the aforementioned floor mats. Is it worth to get?

Floor mats are a definite "must have", especially if you have saddle or quartz interior. But don't get gouged by the dealership. Buy from HondaAcuraWorld, or buy Husky brand Floor Liners. The Floor Liners match my interior almost perfectly and look way better than the black Acura mats IMHO. I do however have the Acura black cargo liner though. It works well, and looks pretty good.
Most people don't like the running boards. But I actually wish I had purchased them myself. HondaAcuraWorld has very fair prices, and you can install it yourself to save money! |

| I assume this company is in the U.S. I wonder what the duty and tax would be to import tese items as well as the exchange rate. |

Is ther a web site for these items? |
|
|

OK, that web site has the running boards for $445.00. The shipping is not free, but maybe $55.00?? Call it an even $500.00. 40% exchange rate makes it $700.00. At least a 15% duty, comes to $800.00. Goods and Services Tax is another 7%, so $850.00 The dealer can provide it installed for $927.00. Worth it to order it and ship it here? No, I don't think so.

| But then again, if you're in Toronto, you could always shoot down here and have them installed ;) |

Here is a link for the floor liners. As you can see these are better than factory because: They are not just flat, but rise up around the edges. The rear piece is a one-piece design. The driver's liner covers the dead pedal. And they match the interior of your MDX.
You can do a google search and find who has the best prices for these while shipping to Canada. |

I need to know if the mats that are provided my Acura are good. These are the mats the Acura prvides as a dealer option.
Please don't tell me about ACURAHONDAWORLD.COM. While the prcies may be reasonable to you folks in the States, here in Canada after paying shipping, duty, GST (taxes) and the exchange rate, it's not worth it.

| JerryinTO...I am surprised you are going with factory mats. Do you have black interior? |
|

| I never said I was going with factory mats. I'm just looking for good mats that are better than the ones at the local automotive hardware store. |

| Factory all-season's seem to be very good. Now, about Canadian taxes... The "reasonable" price for all season's factory MDX mats in States is about $100, the list price is about $125, I believe. That's only $25 difference. I can't see how they can go for more then list price, even in Canada. I don't mean to sound like a "reach snob", but $25 is not a big chunk of money... |

Jerry-
There are two things going against the Acura all-weather mats. They only come in black, and they don't cover the dead pedal.
Assuming you want the black floormats...
My dead pedal was looking worn only after 6 weeks of ownership, so I immediately bought the weather tech mats. I also have a tan interior.
I do like the design pattern of the Acura mats, and I did purchase the Acura cargo tray and cargo liner as I have an australian sheperd.
But I think for the floor mats I would either go with Weathertech or the ones described in the URL posted in your other thread because of dead-pedal coverage.

Congrats on the "landing" and good luck! |

Jerry,
I agree with rollnsf. I purchased a Husky Liner Acura Floor Liner for the driver, passenger and 2nd row. It's a perfect fit. Check out this thread:

You can get them from CanadianTire. Go to the automotive section and then "driver fx". I think the price is reasonable and it's delivered right to your front door. Hope this helps.. |

A good link that DRIVERfx.ca. Pretty good prices. I just wonder how well those WEATHER TECH or HUSKY mats fit?

| Weathertechs fit pretty well. They even cover the raised 05 dead pedal. They're flat-cut, so it takes a little time to conform to the dead pedal hump. |

There is a big difference between Husky floor mats and Husky Floor Liners. I have the floor liners. They replace the factory carpet mats, meaning you take out your original floor mats for safe and clean storage. The rubberized plastic floor liners are awesome. They fit very well, and look nice.
Granted I think carpet would be the best looking, however when light gray mats get dirty, they look ugly. I was deep cleaning (lots of elbow grease) my factory carpeted mats once a week. $130 or so is money well spent on perfectly matched (fit and color) floor liners. |

| We use double floor mats actually. The factory/OEM one is nicely fitted in there. Then a second layer of inexpensive carpet from Pep Boys goes over it. Don't want to mess up the nice factory ones - this top layer is pretty much disposable anyways. It surely doesn't fit the shape of the floor board but is large enough to cover the foot-print/step area... |

I included all-season floor mats but the dealer did n't put them for third row. Do they come for third row ?
Thanks

No, they're not available for the third row.
I think consensus is no one makes a third row all weather mat. You'll have to create your own... |

I'll be taking my X to Reno/Tahoe this coming weekend and will definitely take pix. To prep, I started cutting my weathertechs for the second row and have a few observations...
-They're easy enough to cut, and the grooves allow it to be cut to most floor shapes.
-However, if you cut them to fit just right, some of the grooves may actually flow water into the carpet. For example, the mounts of the front seats sit on a portion lower than most of the floor of the second row. If you cut the mats to fit, the floormat would naturally follow the inclination of the floor, and the grooves (which are the grooves for the cutout) could allow water to flow in there.
-I couldn't figure out how to get the area underneath the seat to be properly covered by the mats. As you can see in the pic above, the husky has coverage in there.
-I'm probably obsessing over this too much. I ended up buying some $10 mats from Kragen to put under the weathertechs, under the front seats to cover that area just this weekend.
-Covering this area underneath the front seats will block the floor vents for the second row. I'm assuming this is no big deal. |

I'm actually thinking about purchasing sidesteps from Tim, but I'm a little leary about how difficult it will be to self install. 4-6 bolts a piece into the undercarriage or am I being too optimistic? |

It is not hard. It will take you approximately 2 hours to complete the task. |
