We all know about those credit card scams coming from Nigeria.....well, I decided to play with one of them for laughs.
Their first email asked if we could send them a complete list of our inventory because they needed all items we had in stock :rolleyes:
So, I replied:

So I came up with this doozy :D
We tried this credit card, and it will unfortunately not authorize either. I understand your urgency so therefore my office can process a bank to bank transfer of funds directly from your account with the information that you gave us. This involves a fee of $600 to perform the transfer, so I will understand if you wish to wait. If you are in a hurry though, my office has told me if you do agree to the international wire transfer I can ship these parts to you before the bank approves it because it is covered by insurance.

I usually get the Ebay or Paypal Account "Pending Suspension" unless update all of your your vital information. This is how I usually respond:

Hello Roger,
I called DHL Worldwide, and it seems that their world hub for the mediterranean is in Al Fayyum, Egypt. The package (weighing 39 pounds) is due to arrive there at 0650 UTC. From there it will be transported most likely to an airport somewhere in the Sudan, I don't recall the name of the city. I do remember it was to be transported down the Nile to this airstrip by light freighter. They assure me the package will arrive within the next two days.

Unfortunately the tracking is no good for me on the internet as well, I have to call into the DHL Worldwide Information center at (305)378-3535 for the tracking information.
At present, the package according to DHL is departing an airfield at Jinja, Uganda for the trip to you and should arrive within the next 24 hours.

Beware!!!
I was selling my bike out of a site that has been frequented by scammers. Basically how it works, if you fall for their scam is, the seller was to send the balance via wire transfer after depositing the Cashier's check. Problem is, the cashier's check is fraudulent. So, after a few days of depositing the check, the bank will get back to you letting you know the check is bogus. By then it is to late if you transferred the money to his account. Get the picture??? Also, I work for a bank (JPMo****Chase). In a dept. that happens to see a LOT of checks:2: Also, I made him overnight/2 day delivery the check... Guess how much it might have cost him from wherever the hell he is?:4: :p :D

I have put a stop on the package which is now being held at the DHL/Danzas terminal in Lagos Nigeria.
It seems that our bank transfer has been recalled from our bank account due to a chargeback. My office is afraid of international credit card fraud and has told me to have the package held at that location until this can be resolved.
If we do not have another means of payment within 24 hours, the package will be returned to me and you will be responsible for the shipping charges for this adventure.

| I don't even know what one would look like but maybe a fake screenshot of a wire transfer in his name showing that it was denied due to insufficient funds? You could blur the acct number and tell him you did so for security reasons so that his number wouldn't be send over the Internet. That also covers you in case he asks you in the future to verify it. "Sorry, Rogers - I take the security of your personal information very seriously." |
