I recently received a Dension icelink Plus (www.densionusa.com) for Christmas, and I must say, the results have been dissapointing.
I have an '02 MDX, and while the Dension unit does allow for use of the steering wheel controls to navigate my iPod, it comes at a cost. Because (as of '02) text support is not enabled on the MDX, navigating through the menus is very cumbersome. Furthermore, my Dension unit intermittenly charges the iPod, and picks up a great deal of engine noise.
Dension's solution is to crank up the icelink output from 2V to 4V, and this does overpower the engine noise, but results in a very distorted sound.
I have previously use the Blitzsafe product on an '04 Accord. I also picked up engine noise this way, but it was easy to remedy by picking up a "ground loop isolator" from the local Radio Shack. Unfortunately, Dension's custom interface does not allow for such a solution.
Just a little FYI for everyone.
Has anyone tried one of the new Alpine Stereo systems with iPod interface on their MDX or other vehicle? |

My advice to anybody buying a new car that really, really, really wants their iPod to work seamlessly with the car: wait until it's offered on the vehicle you want. Although they have plenty of reason to paint a rosier picture than reality, I think the adapter will be in a lot of cars and soon. I'm holding off on my Ferrari for now. :)
I thought about doing the blitzsafe in one of my cars but I might just wait until I'm ready to buy a new one.

I think you need to get a replacement from dension and give it a try. or you have an installation problem. I installed the Icelink Plus in my 2004 and it ROCKS. I'm quite impressed with it. I have no engine noise whatsoever. I did back mine off to 2V so that it is the same volume as the CD and Radio. Don't give up yet. sounds like you got a bad unit.

| does the icelink plus display text on the mdx (03 and newer)? |

no,
no text display. While that would be cool. shouldn't you know the songs on your own ipod? It's not big deal not having it. |
